I have a 7bolt 95tsi awd and i just changed the head. The car ran fine before the swap. The only problem during the swap was i broke my cam sensor but i had a spare and just swapped it out. (me sensor is located on the cam gear) So i go to fire up the car and it starts rough throws a cel then shuts off as if i just turned off the car. I try to start it again and the same thing happens. I checked my timing belt and it was on just fine. I try hooking up an obd2 scanner but it wouldnt read. I swapped with my spare ecu and tried to start it. The car instantly fired up and was running great with the exception of a pretty loud lifter tick. I let the car idle for a while then shut it off. About 2 hours later i go outside and go to start the car again and it starts and shuts off just like before. Any suggestion would be great.

my car is a 7bolt. fresh rebuild. balance shafts removed. evo3 16g. 550s. walbro 255. aeromotive afpr. egr blocked off. and all the minor stuff was just done as well spark plugs wires etc.

update. I noticed the starter was on a little loose and that ground on the starter bolt would spark so i tightened it down. Also everytime i start the car after unplugging the ecu or disconnecting the battery it will start but after i turn it off it won't start right again and it throws a cel. I plan on going to get a new scanner so i can see what it says, mine is not working. If anyone has any ideas please feel free. :)

ok, i tell everybody to always check there timing marks. sometimes you get in a rush and forget to align one of the marks right. are you sure the head you installed is any good? as far as it throwing a cell i just recently had this problem with my friends car. it was flat out the ecu. he did not want to listen to me but i put in another ecu and it was fine. it went like this.he would go to start the car, it would go to fire over and bam. everything shuts off. wait 1-2 minutes and he was able to repeat step on. the car always sounded like it would start but wouldnt.
