Car Starts and Shuts Right Off

Ok well the last couple days my car when i first started it when it was cold would want to die unless i gave it a little gas and i didnt think anything of it. Today i got off work and went up to the gas station to fill up and i got back in the car and it did the same thing so i thought i just needed to give it some gas. Well i kept trying and trying and and whether i gave it gas or not it would shut off as if i turned it off and took the key out. Each time after it died it would start right back up and then do it again. My first thought is that it might need the fuel filter replaced but i wanted to see what anyone else thinks. I really cant have the car be down long because it is my daily driver. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Check your Coolant temp sensor..

Sensor issue. Either cam, crank, or power transistor.

I havent been able to check the fuel pressure because it shuts off before i can get out to check it but it was set to about 43.5 with out vacuum hooked up. The plugs i just regapped the other day to about .024. The car has had a high idle since i got it. When i first start the car it idles about where it should but as it warms up the idle goes up and i just never messed with it ### it was running fine other than that.

Is there any way I can tell if its one of the sensors without having to replace it
