car runs like crap, new motor LOG INSIDE

i just installed my 2.3 6 bolt into my 96 tsi shell. it has an auto trans. i cant get this car to idle worth a damn. it is my first log using link( got it yesterday)
im on stock turbo, stock manifold, stock smic, and 2g maf and stock injectors. i have 2 emission lines unhooked at the moment. i have the firing order as 3214 and i have the non 95/96 box checked to invert the injector trigger wires. i see that my coolant sensor is -74 degrees, it is brand new but it had the wrong plug on it so i just pushed the harness on the sensor hoping it made a connection. apparently it did not. could this be causing my problems? i have not set base timing yet. if anyone is local and will stop by to help i will pay you for your time, because i am lost. could my base timing and coolant sensor be causing all of my problems?

Yes.

Your car thinks it's freezing out, dumping massive loads of fuel in an attempt to warm itself up (front o2 is pegged rich as evidence). Get that temp sensor issue fixed and I bet it will run very smoothly, idle and otherwise.

awesome man, thank you, like i said it was my first time using it and it didnt seem right at all. which sensor would it be, the one with one prong? or the one that i had the problem clipping on next to it?

That would be the Coolant Temp Sensor. Its a little black connector, next to the one with 1 prong.

i got the neww sensor on, the part store said they didnt show they had one for a 96 tsi, didnt know what they gave me originally but got one for a gsx and it plugged right in. it runs really well now, just have to set the timing and it should be almost perfect.


as you can see from the log, the o2 was so rich, it finally starts to come back down and cycle
