Ok, I have 1996 gs-t that I am having troubles with. The car ran great one day until the hood came up and smashed my windshield. (Forgot to put hood pins in.) So the car sat for a couple weeks until a new windshield was installed. The battery was dead when I tried to drive it again. Charged the battery up and that car sputters when it starts to get a load on it. Any kind of load 1/4 throttle. I don’t know if anything could have happened to the car while it sat. My apexi neo would not let me do anything to it. It was stuck in demo mode or something. I sent it in and hooked back up and same problem. I couldn’t even drive the car up on a trailer today, not enough power. Puffed out black smoke like it is running rich. So here is what I am going to try.
-fuel pressure check
- boost leak check
-replace plugs and wires
- Compression test ( 160,162,158,165)

I have the money to buy the DSM link with ecu. Is it possible my ecu could have gone bad causing the neo to crap out?

Sorry, I didn't specify that the car is a 4g63. Also i haven't tried the boost leak check yet. I Didn't know why it would run like absolute garbage after sitting a couple weeks. I am having problems trying to check fuel pressure. Do i need a special attachment?

the car starts and idle's just fine. It's when i try to drive the car is when it falls on its face. i have only tried driving it a few times nothing out of first gear. I dont know if a mouse got in the car and chewed up something or if the dead battery caused it. I for sure am going to buy the dsm link v3 with the ecu. Should i try to figure out why it's running poorly first?

I had similar problem ones with my gst. It started up fine idle's fine but when i wanted to drive it , its just starts sputters like crazy and fell on its face. :/

and the problem was.........

One little stupid wire came off of the plug for the MAF sensor and it was cousing that kind problems.

Check your wires, start the engine and touch wires and move them
i bet some wire doesnt make good conection like it was with my gst.

Hope it helps
:)

You might also try taking the Neo out completely. That will eliminate one possible point of disruption. If the car still runs like ass, then start testing individual components. (I would start with the MAF)

Ok while I was looking around, I noticed that my waste gate on my turbo doesn't have a vacuum line to it. I just replaced the old evo3 for this Garrett t-28. There are two spots on the turbo for vacuum lines, and only one on the evo3. Do I need to tap into a vacuum line and run one down to the waste gate also?
