So i've been doing some logging and found i had some knock on boost. So i went out today to log a couple pulls for a guy on another forum to go over the logs. So i did my pulls and headed back home when i started hearing a ticking sound, almost like the sound of a rock in your treads, from the front of the car. I slowed down for a light and the car died.

My voltage was fine, oil was fine, the injectors were getting fuel(pulled the line from the rail and fuel came out when i cranked it), and i checked all the fuses. I had checked the sparks last night and they were all fine. I ended up getting the car towed(I was on the shoulder on a highway) to a mechanic buddys home garage. He's out of town so hasnt been able to do a look over. Anyways, i popped the timing cover off and when i crank the engine the belt isnt moving. It is still fairly tight on the cam gears.

Anything else I should be checking or any problems that would cause this to happen? The car is fairly stock, just a cat back and apexi power intake.
Its a 95 evo 3.

Here is what happens when i try to start it.
YouTube - crank

Going to go pick up a comp tester tomorrow morning and see how that goes. I did one earlier this summer and they were 190,190,178,190.

I'm sorry to say it but its almost a guarantee your compression test results won't nearly be as impressive as the were earlier this summer. More than likely you'll have to pull the head and replace a few bent valves, possibly valve guides too if they were cracked in the process.

Sorry, that sucks to hear.

:dsm:

Pull the bottom cover off the timing belt. I can almost promise you that your belt is shredded at the crank pulley. It can be a pain to clean all the little fibers out if it got chewed up real bad. Time to pull the head, and spend a few hundred to get it fixed. Do the waterpump/pulley and get a decent headgasket while you are at it.

While you have the head off you should look at the piston heads too, hopefully the valves didn't give them to big of a kiss.

When i imported the car i had the timing belt water pump cam seals and pulleys all done. Since then i had to do the headgasket and replace it with OEM + arp studs. I was planning on building the engine this winter, so i guess this just means the car is off the road a little sooner then expected.

and the verdict...

I think I counted 12 teeth missing off the belt, and almost every tooth except those that were on the cam's were cracked at the bottom ready to go. Anyway to check if there is bottom end damage without pulled the engine? Obviously there is nicks and dents on the pistons, but if i smooth those out and polish the pistons the should be fine correct?

I tore mine at the crank pully as well. Popped a new head on and it runs, still has issues though. You could drop the oil pan and see if there is anything else. Or just get a powerful magnet and do an oil change and hold the magnet near the stream of oil, might pull out some smaller pieces if anything is damaged.

I had some pretty marks on my piston heads from the exhaust valves, however there was such a carbon buildup on the pistons from running so lean all the time, that after a bit of cleaning/polishing the pistons were unmarred.

EDIT: Just reread your first post. The ticking you heard was the valves hitting the pistons.
