ok... last nite im driving home... it was dark, and I was on a street with no street lights.... the car idled a little low, then the alternator/water pump belt started screaching like crazy, then it stopped, my car went about half a block, then just shut off... no noise, just death.... I pushed my car to the curb and when I looked back, there was a puddle of water.... I couldnt see the water very well, but I stuck my hand in it and it was very cool and it was just water... no oil...

My question is why would my car shut off and not start back up at all? when I was trying to start it, it would crank, but wouldnt start... the battery ran dead VERY quickly....

Im also thinking I might have snapped the belt that drives that stuff.... I was totally blind where I was at... it was VERY DARK... kinda scary... haha..... all the sudden the belt stopped making sounds, then in no time, dead car..... If my thermostat doesnt open, would it cause all that water to overflow out the tank?

Yea, I agree with the belts. It sounds like the power steering belt and/or the alternator belt was really loose. This would cause it to screech like a banshee. Then, I imagine the alternator one just couldn't take it any longer. Either it snapped or derailed. After that, your battery and car must've died from the alternator no longer turning. Check it out in good light and get back to us!
