car builds boost for about 2 sec then starts to wine? " help"

OK so i have a 97 gs-t with basic mods tdo5 turbo and full exhaust fc power commander and 650 cc injectors the car run and idles fine..... starts fine but when i get on it it build boost for about 1-2 sec then starts to wine really bad and all boost is lost and car does not pull hard at all..... i have no clue what it could be... car has 110,000 miles on it but like i said runs and idles strong but when boost comes into play drops off hard and wines like crazy.... any ideas? im lost ### help guys... :(

no does not smoke.....but ill go and check for shaft play here in a sec and be back in a 10 min to let you know
 
well no shaft play and no smoke..... im starting to think its a boost issue somewhere in the pipes becuase when i give it gas and let off my greddy BOV does not open instead all the boost surges back through the turbo.... what can that mean?
 
if your bov isn't opening after you build boost, try to lower the compression (unscrew the bolt on the top and turn the rod a little) on the bov and see if that works some.
 
umm no the bov will sound if you rev up the rpms no matter what gear.

Yes if you have an aftermarket bov..Or you rev the shit out of it, yes you can get the bov to sound..But generally speaking you have to put a load on the engine before the bov will go off...

i have a crushed 1g bov and it sounds hard if i rev it up to 4000rpm n let it go...your just eating your own words..putting load on an engine is increasing rpms..

No.

Putting a load on an engine is putting it into gear, powering the tranny. Hence why you can rev freely and easily out of gear but once in gear it will not rev as quickly.

HOWEVER, you can get your bov to sound in neutral, yes you are correct about that.

Kidding, I'm sure you meant before that happened.

On topic, my 16g made the same noise when my turbo was literally hanging off of my exhaust manifold and the bolts had shaken themselves loose. LOVE DSMs.

My T25 made that noise when it was overboosting like nuts. Didn't have a boost gauge so it took me a sec to figure that out.
 
Before it blew man..LOL

You could hear the 16g spool ish in nuetral or park..But It wouldn't make a bov sound when you let off..

But in gear driving down the road of course you could hear the bypass valve..
 
That sounds like turbo. That's what mine sounded when it was blown but it didn't build any boost

dude it worked :) now it builds boost better and hold boost now i just have to play with it a little to get it to be set right... why does that happen?

still it whining bad.... maybe a slipping belt bc only happens under full pedal... man wtf LOL :(

idk about that...but hey i have a 16g as well...weird that yours don't sound off..is it crushed? i don't see how a tranny has anything to do with your bov going off...im not here to argue but increasing rpms is increasing engine speed...the tranny is to get u either forward or backwards...idk..being an engineer student i see things a bit differently...LOL.:hellyeah:
