I have a 98 GSX, it has stock ecu, AFC, 550's, 20G, 40mm wastegate, forged pistons, FMIC, DP, hard pipe kit, underdrive pullys,Fluidyne w/fan, 6 puc clutch, warlboro pump,K+N blah, blah blah. I recently did some maintainance on the old girl, put a new spring in my wastegate, tightened turbo/manifold bolts. Put it back together and now it starts and runs for only 3 or 4 secondsk, then dies, I tested the coil pack and it was fine, so I assumed it was the start switch in the steering colum. Replaced it and it still does the same thing. I serched in the forum but was not able to find this problem discussed. Any info or suggestion would be gratefully appreciated, thanks :dsm:

For sure! That is sweet. If you cromed/powdered the valve cover and spruced up the plug cover that would be supa badass.

Did you check all your vac lines?

i somewhat a similiar problem but i can get my car running on the 6th try LOL. Turn the key to let the fuel pump, put more gas into the engine like 3-4 times than turn the key, my rpms shoot up and i gotta give the car some gas to keep the rpms up but once its warm it runs fine, im still trying to figure out the problem. I can tell ya this much... it aint the fuel filter cause i replaced mine and i still have same problem.

maybe the temp. sensor for the ecu?

I have the same problem or close to it so i'm going to try and replace that tonight.

I found out that my afc died. I had not looked at it cause it's in my glove box. Anyway it took a sh@t. I ordered a new afcII. Hopfully that will cure the problem, thanks for all the compliments on the engine bay, I had to get a pic of my new manifold before it turned gold and purple. Does anyone know if the Afc II will plug in to the old afc harness? just wonering? I get lazy when it comes to electric, aw who am I kiddin' I am lazy when it comes to work. I wish I had a magic wand to wave over the car.

Well I know if your MAF takes a shit, or comes disconnected, there are similar symptoms, so I guess if the AFC is dead that would be the same thing pretty much (no reading or bad reading from the MAF). Good luck!

I replaced my AFC with the new one and now she runs fine. Thanks for the help and the complements on the engine bay. Happy boostin'............ Zac :dsm:
