cant seperate motor from tranny..

pulled the motor last night, went out this morning to pull the motor off the tranny and put it on my engine stand, and i can't get them apart. i have the bolts of the transaxle removed, and the 12mm that goes through TO the tranny on the back by the starter. starter is off and yes all the bolts are removed. i have about a 3/4" gap between the 2 and i can spin the block and tranny seperately. i just want to make sure before i start using a pry bar that there isn't some secret e clip im missing.

Just pull the tranny out of the block.Evo has the Clip,that needs to be seperated fron the clutch before unbolting bolts......

Sometimes it can be a pain to seperate the two. It helps if you lift up a little as you are pulling out. I believe it is just 4 14mm bolts, and 2 12mm to the starter.

Your right about the bolts it should just come apart with a little rocking. Has the tranny ever been taken out before someone might have tried to use some sort of sealent on it or something and that could be the problem.

Is it an automatic or a manual tranmission?

its a manual. i think its just hangin up... i have about 20 more minutes then i gotta go to work. it will rock side to side alright, but it just won't come off the spline

Ya mine wouldnt come apart while it was in the engine bay but when i pulled them both out and set them down on some wood, they just fell apart.

Just don't use the crowbar, if that thing comes off quickly and hits the ground, it could easily break a corner off, and that would suck.

i'm 10 seconds away from using a 6' rock bar... gettin pissed. but i'm out of time.. we'll see what happens in a couple days.

Did you unbolt the dust shield on the bottem of the block and tranny?
