Is this something that can be welded up and flatened back out or should I just junk it?

yes it could be fixed, but I would just hold on to it for parts, and replace it.

getting it welded would be about $60-$100 depending who/where it was done. and the the surface would be a bit more also from having to dress down the weld.

the head would have to be dissassambled, then cleaned then welded, then surfaced and then pressure tested to make sure you will not have a leak there.

Yes there may be alot of heads out there. for now. but Mtsu isnt making any more either. who knows what will be around 5 years from now or what a core head would cost.

I have a good head from a spare engine but if I can fix this up to keep as a spare then its worth the money to fix it. Only reason I asked was because some of the welding would be in the CC and I don't know how well the weld would handle the pressure

the weld will be stronger than the casting.

I hve had to have many alum heads welded in the chamber over the years... as far as I can recall never had one come back with issues about the welding
