Well I was putting my water pump on trying to torque it down and one bolt wasn't torquing. Take the pump off and this is what I found. Please tell me my block isn't junk

I dont think your block is junk, just try to find a longer bolt or stud, it looks like there is still plenty of thread behind the chip.

I tried threading adifferent bolt in and it wouldn't go. Idk what to do I'm freaking out LOL. I just seriously put everything together besides timing components....

so you cant thread a bolt into it evan with the waterpump off,?

can you maybe tap it 1 size up? if not take it to a machinest and have him helicoil it or something

as long as you don't go outside the outline of the gasket you should be fine. put the gasket up there and trace it out with a sharpy. All you are going to be doing is bevelling the hole with a cone shaped stone. Just enough to get past the messed up part with a bolt or stud.

you can see the outline of where the pump seals to the block, looks like your safe , by a hair though,

I'd just retap the hole. The tap is beveled enough to get past what threads you've messed up.

From the picture it looks as if the bolt was to short and it cracked the casting. For a quick fix, I would get some liquid gasket and fill in were the gasket will seal. Don't fill the bolt hole (you could retap it put the bolt in it fill all around the bolt let it dry then remove the bolt cut the gasket smooth with the block then put it back together with a longer bolt. However quick fixes don't last and a welder could easily weld it back and a machinest or engine guy could drill and regal with out a problem. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck fellow dsmer.

Dying to hear how it held, is she holding water? I have a similar problem with my truck, the bolt broke off deeeeep inside the block, about 2" inside the block, so no drilling or easy outing. It looks like i'll have to tap the first inch or so of the hole (the threads don't start for the first 1 1/2") and use a bigger bolt... We'll see how that goes.
