I was wondering if I had to re balance my assembly since i put in eve rods in my 2g. It's stock crank an pistons with new hardware. I'm getting the crank polished and was no that there balanced from the factory but is it the same specs for a 2g motor. Thanks

Grab a set of evo rods and pistons and throw em in. There be good for more hp but the they will have less compression then 2g due to how there machined to fit evo blocks, so it be more around 8:0. But totally worth the upgrade. Search around there are tons of info on evo rods and pistons in 2g's.

I did research a lil while ago of the 7 bolt rod and evo rod. There is barely a difference. The 2g piston on the 2g rod is the fail. Not sure of the details but im sure you can find the facts! There both 22mm wrist pin bore so just get the evo pistons to save some cash. Unless you have already got them them. If you have both just throw them in and get it balanced!! Even if only 1gram is shaved you will be happy you did so and so will your engine.

The evo piston/rod combo will bump compression to 8.8:1. The evo pistons are a better design.

Compression will very depending on how much head to block surface there is. The evo motor is alot tighter in specs then the 2g motor. So don't expect it to be that high of compression. The evo pistons being shorted will not meet the head or top of the block as high as the 2g pistons will so you will have lower point of tdc, So the pistons might night reach the very top of the block causing lower compression numbers.

The EVO rods are similar to stock 7 bolt rods. The pistons create 8.8:1 in evos because of the smaller combustion chamber in the head, not shortened piston. They will be somewhere around 8.5:1 in a DSM.

It's always a good idea to have the rotating assembly checked for balance.

Dish depth is what everybody is forgetting, evo pistons have less dish than 2 g pistons, even if they sit around .007 lower than the 2 g pistons,

Also be careful you can not mix and match the 8 and 9 pistons as they are different, they take different oil rings the 9 piston has a deeper oil ring groove than the 8.

From looking at them it seems there would be a slight bump in comp.

Ok cool its evo 8 rods and i got manly bearings an its getting polished.
Im using the stock 2g pistons cause i heard there just as strong

I blew my stock 2g rods at around 380whp, so just be careful with those dinky rods if your not upgrading them.

Sorry guys i work on a boat just got back anyways i got evo 8 rods an had it resurfaced now Im in the process of getting an safc cause Im short on money. 16g big with evo 9 injectors an walbro 255 and need a base tune for 18-20 psi
