I know its a newbish question but im a newb when it comes to tuning. I just swapped out my t25 for an evo 8 16g6 and cant do wot pulls because of fuel cut. I know i need fuel upgrades but wanted to know if i can do a mild tune with safc first. Or should i go with a maft setup to begin with. Any help is greatly appreciated

Fuel cut is designed to keep you from destroying your engine. The reason you cant do a WOT pull without fuel cut is because your injector duty cycles are off the charts and you need more fuel. An SAFC tweaks your fuel map to compensate for bigger injectors so in order for the SAFC to do anything beneficial you need injectors. BUT, injectors are only one of a large group of parts you need to research and acquire in order to turn the boost up.

In the mean time save your engine and turn the boost DOWN.

yea just get a walbro 255 and tune the boost to like 15psi and get 11:1 a/f ratio with the safc that about all you really can do without messing with stock timing from the ecu. Really need save for ecmlink. Without tune you can have all the performance shinney metal parts you want, unless they are tuned there pointless. But the setup I said at the top will work for you.

Yes you could do a "mild" tune with an s-afc. Heck that's how i tuned my 16g 12 years ago. I'd sell you mine but I like the pretty numbers flashing rpm, karman, and battery voltage (I don't use it for tuning anymore).

Without fuel upgrades, there's nothing to "tune". You have a turbo that is flowing more air and thus will require more fuel than the stock components can provide to maximize the benefit of that turbo. Leave the boost low until you can grab some larger injectors and a bigger fuel pump. Then tune away...assuming you have a way to monitor what is going on with your car...wideband, data-logger, etc.

Ok yea thats what i thought when i read overthe tech threads on the safc but wasnt sure. Im running the stock evo 8 wga which is at 17 psi i think and i have my mbc turned all the way out. Guess ill just have to keep my foot out of the gas til i get the rest
