Can I replace E316g turbine housing with Big 16g turbine housing?

I have an issue with the turbine housing on my otherwise perfect E316g turbo and I happen to have a tired Big 16g turbo sitting around that has a good turbine housing. Has anyone ever swapped out their E316g turbine housing with a housing from a Big 16g? Thanks

Yes they're interchangeable. I even have a 14b with a B16G turbine housing on it.

The title of your thread alludes to something different than what your post seems to be asking. I'll cover all the bases:

All MHI 14B/16G turbo variants have the same TD05H turbine wheel. The key here is MHI turbines, as the Ebay junk copies are not interchangable with MHI parts. All true MHI TD05H turbines are swappable, so long as they are in good condition.

As far as turbine housings go, there are 3 to look for. They can be ID'd by the numbers cast into the turbine housing.

-The 14B will come in a 6cm housing: 11020/11820 = 6cm
-16G variants will come in a 7cm housing: 11830/13700 = 7cm
-Other MHI variants will rarely come in the 8cm housing: 12050 = 8cm

If you're swapping turbine housings, you'll want to look for a 7cm housing for all MHI 16G variants. The 6cm housing (found on the 14B turbos) is not ideal for a 16G IMO, and will increase back pressure while decreasing flow through the turbine housing/turbine.

In essence, the small 16G, big 16G, and Evo 3 16G should all be running a 7cm turbine housing. They are interchangeable.

One more thing to note: You'll find the legit MHI turbine housings are constructed a bit different that the Ebay and aftermarket housings. Google is your friend.

Just confirmed from my own first-hand experience that the mitsu Big16g turbine housing does indeed fit the Evo316g. Thanks to you guys that helped!
