I have the motor and tranny out of my 90 gsx. Im wanting to paint the car while i have it out, i need to push it about 50 feet. Just make sure my driveshaft is out or wired up (so it can still rotate) and push it, right?

I have the axles out, i was just going to bolt the spindle back up the the strut, throw the wheels on, and push it. I just wanted to make sure i wouldnt damage anything.

make sure the drive shaft is tied up in some way so it doesnt hit the ground. I wrapped a peice of wire around the shaft and the exhaust so that the shaft could still spin as the car was moving. Also, you should have the front axles in when you move it. Some people will argue since its only alittle distance, but you can screw up the wheel bearings moving it with the axles pulled.

other wise, sure push it wherever

Im confused, with the tranny out how can i have the axles in?

Do you mean just stick it in the spindle and bolt it up and let them spin freely in the engine bay?

I wouldnt worry about installing the axles. The chances of damaging a wheel bearing in that short of distance with no aggressive steering movements, low speed, and no weight over the front end is 0. It is lateral forces that will seperate the bearing and race and even if it does happen, it will have to be at a higher rate of speed or heat generated before you have any problems. Besides, Ive done it at least 50 times before and never have seen any problems with it.
