Can I just JB-Weld my wideband bung onto my downpipe?

myuberfast is talking about the flange for his external wastegate. yes a exhaust shop should be able to do it but find one with a good reputation and try and get a warranty in case the weld cracks. :

I wouldn't send it to a exhaust shop to do the wastegate to manifold weld since 99 percent of them use mig welders and are not trained to weld that material. Cast iron takes a tig welder and a person who has welded cast iron before. You need to heat up the manifold then weld or the welds will crack. Send it to a local welding shop they will be able to do it the right way or point you to someone who can.

JB weld and exhaust do not mix. If you're interested in what the most gawdaful smell in the world smells like, go for it. Its good for about 500 degrees, but the smell.... I don't ever want to smell that again. It works on cracked blocks and cylinder heads, most of these things don't get over 300 degrees, exhaust does.

I say do it if not just to prove us wrong do it for the amazing smell. I would like to see how long this holds up and if it creates an exhaust leak.
