This might sound kind of dumb, but can I flip my tie rod ends upside down to correct bump-steer?

My 2G sits pretty low and I like it that way, but recently I've been reviving some horsepower, with plans for about 400-600 of those in the future and spirited driving has shown me some problems with the current suspension setup.

My tie rod angle is absolutely horrible and I've had enough of the bump-steer it's causing. I want some more performance out of this car so this needs to be addressed.

Just by looking at it, it seems to me like moving the outer tie rod end to the underside of its' perch would make it damn near level with the steering rack.

If I were to do this I would probably drill the taper out of the hole in the perch and swap in a heim joint on a bolt. It would have plenty of room to travel up and down, only binding at full droop, when the car is on jacks.

I haven't drawn up the roll center yet (or measured anything for that matter) as I am a little busy at the moment, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts first. Has anyone ever tried it?

Thanks.

yes it's been tested and tried, and I developed a kit for reasons like this exact one. link to my V1 kit which is underside capable is here https://www.dsmtuners.com/marketplace/v1-2g-1g-bumpsteer-kits.256/

while it is underside it is still outside of the upper and lower arm motion tract, so its arc is going to be out of line. due to this your camber is already setup NOW to get positive camber upon compression and negative upon rebound! this is not ideal of course but as long as your aware of that effect and can deal with that.

Hopefully my V1 kit helps out. its been tested and used by many for years and years. I then later when and did my V2 kit which is a top only kit with its custom shaft.

with the bumpsteer it's not nice and even a small amount of lowering can produce bumpsteer and it's annoying.
