camshaft position sensors

so i have a 98 gst that i got as a shell and i dropped a motor and trans in from a 95-96 gst now i have a connector off the harness for a 98 gst style cam sensor (on the passenger side of the head) and the cam sensor behind the intake cam gear. Has anyone else here ran into this problem? i figure i can just cut the connector off the harness and run it over where i need it and get a connector to get it where i need it to be. But then agian idk.

The issue you may run into is that the cam signal is reversed between 2ga and 2gb. Same thing between a 1g and 2gb

If you switch the harness over and use the 95/96 CAS then you'll need to swap plug wires and injector wires unless you have ECMLink where you just need to check a button.

Yeah I was thinking about that after looking a lil bit deeper into this. I think ill just post a wtb ad for a stock cas. Thanks for the info

So I went to the junkyard today looking for a stock 97-99 cas but only found a 1g black top cas so I got it. I've been reading up on the which nd it sounds easy enough to do. But is it worth it or should I sell it nd keep looking for a stock cas.

Yeah making the harness doesn't seem hard I'm just wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages

For the 1g CAS there are two types: gray top and black top. The black top are supposed to be better because they read in a different way, my minds fuzzy right now, so if you have a choice look for a black top.

Get ahold of Steve at Miller Import Parts. They have a ton of used DSM parts. I bought a bunch of little parts and pieces and my replacement body panels from them.
