Ok so my camshaft position sensor went bad so i had a shop professionally fix it.
Sensor was changed and car was good to go.
So yesterday i get from school and i turn it on later in the day to go somewhere it started and idled rough and then turned off. I was like wtf. that's the same thing that was happening when the sensor was bad.
When i D/C the battery and put it back on the car turns on and idles really roughly but it doesnt turn off. However the moment i turn it off and try to turn it back on it gives me the same problem.
so i D/Ced the battery and put it back and took it to the shop and left it there that day. today the owner and I were rattling our heads as to what the problem was. He hooked it up to the scanner and it shot out the Camshaft Position Sensor code.
The sensor is BRAND new and it doesn't looked damaged in anyway. So i wanted to ask what some of the other people might think. I was guessing it was the wire that leads down to the computer.

Sorry if this is a lot i just like to explain my problems in detail so its easier to find a solution LOL. Again any help would be appreciate and thanks again

Go to the junk yard and get a cam sensor of a galant or 3g eclipse(if you can't find a 2g) is around 7$ and see if you get the same thing. Or the sensor could be 180% out of timing.

Junkyards dont have it thats why i had to buy it brand new. Could it be because i bought a 2g sensor while i have a 1g head?

Thats probaly why. Because alot of other mitsubishi cam sensor will work. of course not talking about the 95/96 under the cam gear.

well yeah thats the sensor that i have the one under the cam gear. Thats why i was thinking that

Also, see where your shop got your sensor from. I've had issues with aftermarket sensors. I bought a duralast sensor and went through two of them before finally switching to the 1g style CAS.

i was the one that bought the sensor. i bought it from autozone so i guess mine is a duralast to. but i'll check the harness and the connector first though. thanks for the replies

The 95-96 style cam sensor is really hard to replace without removing the cam gear. I would make sure that your mechanic didn't bend the trigger plate under the cam gear when he replaced it. If it is rubbing the sensor it can cause it to go bad.

^ hmm this seems probable. I have yet to check the other suggestions made but this is one that i'll definitely have to look out for. thanks again
