I have a 95 tsi auto. The cam gear type sensor I have is busted.I am a dsm parts horder so I have 5 1g cam angle sensors and 2 2g ones. I noticed the wire colors are the same on both of the 2g sensors. Is it ok to cut the old sensor and wire into the cas thats actually bolted to the cam ?

You will need to swap plug wires and pins on the ecm. And drill out your cam for a 97-99 sensor also. Maybe some one can find the diagram for you that shows how. Putting the 1st gen cam sensor on would be a lot easier. No drilling and taping required.

I just did that swap on my car I'm using the 97-99 CAS on my 95. From my understanding all you have to do is invert the wires so the ECU reads it correctly.

Ok let make sure I am reading this correctly. I install the 97+ cas rewire 95 cas to the pigtail that I have for the new cas and thats it ? I searched for a write up on this but I got confused LOL
