Chris,

I am going to have to take some photos, I couldn't believe it when I saw it! Maybe they are fakes... I'll let you make the call.

Leon,
That will be great. Please also measure the BCD (base circle diameter) and the Toe to Heel (from max lift to base circle). This will help tell me if they are RG's or not. Also, please note if there is any lettering, casting, or marking of any kind on the cam.

Thanks,
Chris

damn ANYONE have numbers on these cams yet? I have money for cams, but waiting to see if these can compare to HKS's =|

Ive seen dyno results. The 101100's put down around 10-12hp MORE than the HKS 264's. The 101200's Also Put down close to 23hp MORE than straight HKS 272's. It seems the 101200's may has a little less power very early in the RPM range, the 272's actually seem a little torquer way down low, but they def over power the 272's top end.

Those numbers would be a lot more relevant with more information. What turbo, what motor(2.0, 2.3, 2.4?) what rev range was the power gain seen at.

Its better than nothing at this point. It was on a 2.0 i was told but dont know turbo. They didnt test these for spoolup etc, was just pure power pulls. And it was Comp doing the testing.

14 sets of Comp 101200's just hit my door today, about 10 sets were sent to customers who were on backorder..... for those yof you waiting, sorry about the wait.

Comp cams are not regrinds, and they are what we are using in this when it finally gets done :)

More pics to go up soon, as these are about 6 weeks old.

Nice looking project, is that going to be a PRO RWD or outlaw class car.

Since some of you are having a hard time finding HKS cams, I thought I'd post that we have several 272 exhausts in stock and a big shipment of both 264 grinds will be in next week.

THanks,

Forced Performance is the vendor that Chris from Comp Cams has been refferring to regarding the camshaft testing. I don't know how our testing results got into the public, but now that they are and everyone has seen what they will do the cat is out of the bag.

Forced Performance has been working with Comp Cams directly for the last two and a half years on these profiles. We have finished dialing in the lobe centers and profiles for these grinds and the first batch of the correctly centered cams will be ready soon. I don't think they are going to change their centers to our centers, so if you buy their's you may need to tweak them to get the best idle and power. I also noticed someone mention regrinding. Ours are not regrinds, they are made from new billets and have the best surface finish I have seen from any of the aftermarket cam makers, Comp Cams does a very good job on their cams.

We are currently satisfied with our specs for FPCam1, and FPCam2. They roughly correspond to the 100 and 200 grinds. We are also working out the bugs for the FPCam3 and FPCam4 regarding RPM range and spring required in addition to lobe locations.

We havent offered them up to this point because it wasn't possible to install them straight up. Now that we have fixed that, we are offering them. Like I said before, the first batch of the FPcorrected lobe FPCam1 and FPCam2 will be ready soon and we are now accepting orders for FPCam1 and FPCam2. Our pricing on these cams is in line with the market, there is no extra fee for getting ours.

I'll go ahead and make the camshaft info pages on our website active so everyone can review the data and our interpretations and explainations of the cams we will now be offering.

Lets see, on one had you have HK$ cams for around $600. On another hand you have “other cams” for $450-$500. To make the other cams work well, you will need the adjustable cam sprocket $200-$400. Then you will need to spend at least 1 hour on a dyno to dial them in, that is another $100. When it is all said and done, you might be able to correct improperly indexed dowel pin, but sprocket will not help you with lobe to lobe variations, which are also present in “other” cams.

So instead of paying ~$600 in the first place, you will pay $750-$1000. And possibly not even have cams as god as HKS… How is that for savings?

There are a lot of places where you can save money by going with cheaper brands, cams do not fall into that category…

Were you drunk when you posted this? I bought my HKS 272's new for $525, and also my set of Fidanza cam gears for $129. Intake was 2 deg off and the Exhaust cam was 4 deg (crank speed) off, so obviously they are not machined exactly to spec. This would be known as a manufaturer's "tolerance.

You've also obviously never degreed cams before. To degree cams, you calculate TRUE TDC, and move the cams to be aligned with that. Do you need me to post the formula?

Also, my old set of Web Street Grinds ran on stock gears just fine.. probably not the best they could have, but just goes to show you that all cams need degreed, no matter what brand.

I haven't read much of the thread, so I don't know if it's been covered. But Forced Performance just put out a set of cams that blow away HKS. Give them a call.

I wouldn't say 'blow away', but I would say there is an improvement in enough areas (not just peak power) to make them a better choice.

all this was discussed about 6 posts up... read it.

When I go to get some cams I will probably look into these "comp" FPcam2 cams,

I was just testing if anybody is paying any attention.

So what about a dyno sheets of these FPcams

Another autronic user, nice. SMC or SM2? Have I talked to you before?

I think we might have. I believe you were asking about fuel and ignition maps.

I have SM2 but I haven't rebuilt my engine yet after it blew up on a dyno. Somebody needs to convince me I should spend another dime on a DSM. I bought all the parts for it, I just don't feel like paying $1200 for machine work and waiting 3 weeks. It's funny how one machine shop charged me $500 and it blew up, now everybody else wants $1200

Sorry to bring back a dead thread, BUT, I am wondering how many people are actually running the 101200 cams. I have a set in my car right now, but I have a serious issue with them and would like to know in private if anyone else has had the same unfortunate issue occur on them. Email me at [email protected] or thru AOL IM at TrboSpoolinside7
