what are the symptons of knock and boost creep? i know what the issues are and what causes them... i just never experienced them and i was curious as to what its like when each happens? thanx

boost creep is easy to check for, just get a mechanical boost gauge hooked up and do a 3rd or 4th gear run. Watch the boost, if it holds steady at a certain psi you're fine, if it "creeps" up like 12, 13, 14 when it's supposed to be at 11 then you have creep.

Knock is harder to check for, our cars have knock sensors that automatically retard the timing if it detects knock so really there are only 2 way to check for it without hooking up a logger or knock light... First is if you hear audibile pinging while accelerating, that's probably knock and not a good sign heh. Or if you start accelerating and feel it start to bog or stutter but don't see black smoke out the back it's probably pulling timing due to knock.
