A. can i avoid using an safc if i have a maf hack and an ecu chipped for diffrent injectors say 560-780? and i would def swap for a 2g maf at that time as well.
B. i have a dmschips ecu with a chip set for higher compression and it says +30% fuel map to compensate and says has fuel cut turned off does that mean i can set my boost any higher than 15 since i guess it is upping the duty cycle? Is any of this correct or am i as confused as a partical physicist?
C. sorry last one if i use a 2g maf and get the proper harness adapter will i have to use a maf hack/translator?

You could. You could also pour sand into your oil. Stop being cheap and do it the right way.

See answer above.

Yes. Now see the above answers. Or just sell your car to someone not looking for the easiest way to blow it up.

No he's not a dick, u are trying to trick ## car into getting more fuel and horsepower, any chipped ecu:( I'm not rich but i kno better then chipping my shit,

Buy bigger injectors don't up anything till u have what u wanna up it to,

What he's trying to say is that is best if you don't try to short cut the process, because in the long run your engine is more likely to fail that if you just simply invested your money in more sound upgrades so that the car can handle the goals or i guess "target boost" you're trying to reach.

Hesh724, it looks like you already have some money tied up in your car. Tuning is not the thing to skimp on. Save up your money and get DSMlink.

Mike telling it how it is. Nice. I love reading your posts. Your really off to a defiant-esque style there. LOL

I was asking an honest question as to what would be a good next step. I didnt need some **** to berate about my ignorance. I just wanted someone to tell me no thats not the best way to go not "pour sand in ## engine" #### you and i hope i get banned so i dotn have to come back and accidently try to get help off these ####s!!! :notgood:

Well. Every question has an answer.

every stupid question also has a stupid answer.

Ignorance is bliss right? Well if you would search and view the upgrade paths and tech articles then you would not have to look ignorant by posting up a question that has been answered a 1,000,000 times.

But seriously, SAFC's are the cheapest way to tune, and a great learning experience. The SAFC tricks your ecu so you can compensate for more air and bigger injectors. You can pick them up for $100-$150 all day long on the forums.

The chips you talk about, actually try to compensate, but fail.

If it says 550-750, that is one nice jump in injector size, so really the chip is going to lean you out, which can cause knock and detonation. Things you really don't want to happen.

Chips don't work, unless you have DSMlink, which I strongly recommend.

But for you, start off with a SAFC and work your way up.

Also remember, "should i search before i post."

go to ds-map.net. Buy their shit. Tune away with speed density and not have to worry about translators, maf hacks, swapping mafs. None of that. Also, this shit has been covered thousands of times. Take the time to research like everyone esle. Thanks

James

or you could shut up and listen (read) whats being told to you. no ones gonna search for you.
this question has been answered over and over.
if your chip is some knock off it will net you neg hp when your motor pops.
sure you can throw a 2g maf but with no REAL way to compensate the extra air you will detonate if it even will run properly no you dont need a translator for a 2g you need at the least a safc.
i would not look into upping past 15 on your set up do you have any way to datalog that should be first on your list the way your going were gonna be viewing a "whys my motor smoking so bad and has no power" thread

The 2G maf reads less air flow than the stock 1G maf though.

Also, I never logged my setup using the SAFC. But also with an SAFC, you will need a wideband.

And another side note. Your ecu is smart, and will eventually learn that you are tricking the mass air signal and will adapt to it, which means you have to constantly tune with a SAFC, which is a great learning device into tuning.

A. No
B. No
C. No

There i answered your questions for you.

Quit being a stupid cheap dumb shit.

If you wanna #### your car up sell it and buy a god damned honda.

If you want to learn then get a ####ing SAFC like has been said 100x, later on upgrade to Link. Your question was answered on the first response. The guy wasn't being sarcastic, he was being realistic.

Why don't you guys take it easy on the guy. He seems somewhat new to the tuning game and is looking for ways to go about getting some answers. Link didn't always exist. Being able to run huge injectors on a stock ECU wasn't always an option. With time, comes knowledge about what we can and can't do with these cars.

Given the right combination of parts, and knowledge, ANYTHING is possible! So, quit telling the guy to just go buy Link and be done! Getting a car properly set up to run link is a $700 affair. Maybe he doesn't want to spend that much on just tuning.

If you are going to say one of his ideas isn't feasible, plausible, or downright outrageous, at least tell him WHY. If you can't, then STFU. At least 1/2 of you guys replying most likely haven't broken out of the 12's yet, so what do you guys possibly know about tuning and making certain shortcuts work?

A. can i avoid using an safc if i have a maf hack and an ecu chipped for diffrent injectors say 560-780? and i would def swap for a 2g maf at that time as well.

Yes you can. An AFC is recommended for fine tuning a car when faced with factors different than what your ecu is burned for. Weather, boost levels, type of gas all require changes to be made to the air/fuel ratio in order to extract maximum hp. You need to determine what turbo you have, what HP levels you wish to achieve, then pick some injectors that will sustain those HP levels, grab a 2G MAF or something slightly larger, THEN have the chip burned for THOSE parameters. The ECU MUST have an E-prom chip attached to the board in order run a "chipped" ecu.

B. i have a dmschips ecu with a chip set for higher compression and it says +30% fuel map to compensate and says has fuel cut turned off does that mean i can set my boost any higher than 15 since i guess it is upping the duty cycle? Is any of this correct or am i as confused as a partical physicist?

The ECU doesn't know and doesn't care what your compression ratio is. Whoever sold you or told you about that chip and it's settings is full of shit. Our cars already run VERY rich from the factory at wide-open throttle. Adding 30% more fuel on top of that with no other changes will make the car run like total shit. If fuel cut is turned off, yes, you can increase your boost levels to whatever your fuel system can handle. Duty cycle is a function of rpm AND airflow. The ECU automatically increases duty cycle as both parameters increase.

C. sorry last one if i use a 2g maf and get the proper harness adapter will i have to use a maf hack/translator?

The use of a Translator takes the place of a factory MAF and uses a GM MAF instead. Reasoning behind using a Translator instead of an OEM MAF is 1. The GM MAF can support and accurately report much higher airflow readings than the stock 1G and 2G MAF can. The EVO MAF has been reported to handle upwards of 600whp and above. The 3" GM MAF has been shown to record 80+lb/min (700+whp). The Translator is also a crude tuning tool. Not really recommended unless you just want the tuning to be "somewhat close". It's tuning increments are only 5%, whereas an AFC has 1% increments.

Give us an idea of what you are looking for powerwise, what turbo you plan on running, and we can give some accurate feedback.

so..wait. If I was to slap a 2g intake with 2g maf on a 1g car, no other mods, and an adapter so the 1g maf harness connects to the 2g, it wouldn't run properly?

I was told that a 2G MAF, 550's, crushed 1G BOV and a walbro 190 will run well without a tune, will allow the boost to be turned up. But, you still run a risk of damage by leaning it out with too much boost.

A guy I met at the shootout was running this setup with 18lbs boost. He has yet to have an issue.

Not saying this is the way to go, but this guy has been running it for over a year without issue.
