Couple dumb newbie questions.....

Ok well i have a few dumb questions to ask here, i cant post anywhere else yet because i just registered not too long ago on this site.

Question 1- My car makes a rattling noise on deceleration in gears 3-5. The second you touch the throttle it goes away. Seems to be coming from the transfer case area. Its not a heat shiel or anything. So i jacked it up and looked underneath to see if it was something obvious. I was looking at the transfer case from the front of the car and towards the top there in a threaded hole. No plug or anything in it. Is this the fill? Is there supposed to be a bolt that goes in there or just an empty threaded hole?

Question2- My car has a blitz BOV. On almost every other BOV i have heard it makes a single "woosh" of air between shifts or when you let off the throttle. My car makes a fluttering or chattering noise. Sounds like "turbo flutter" or compressor surge or whatever. Im not sure if it has the wrong spring inside or what? The vacuum line coming off of it is tee'd into my manual boost controller line. Is this right?

What you described is the filler plug and you need to put to find a plug and put it back. I can confirm if you can post a clear picture.
The ratling may mean that your oil level is low. Don't take any risk; drain it and fill it up until it starts coming out of the filler hole. If the TC goes dry, it may lock and cause a serious accident. There was a recall to fix a leak in the TC that resulted in many serious accidents.
Don't forget that the plug has a metric thread so get it from a junkyard or an auto parts store.

The flutter could be caused by improper spring pressure in the BOV or the diaphagm in the BOV being torn.

Unless you have a way to tune the BOV should be recirculated. Indiana auto had a '90 AWD that would have your plug in it. What side of SB you on?

Ok thanks guys. Thats what i thought...the filler plug is missing and maybe its low on oil causing it to make the noise i am talking about.

My car is maroon and i actually live in osceola but i spend most of my time in south bend for work. My work is actually not even a quarter mile north of indiana auto on main street. I will definately drain and fill it back up asap. Where is the drain plug located on the t-case? What weight gear oil should i use?

And my BOV is recirculated, something just doesnt sound right, its not like any other BOV ive ever heard, more just like turbo flutter.

I just read that link you posted and mine is hooked up exactly how that says to NOT hook it up . Guess i will have to get that straightened out as well and see what happens.

the transfer case only took like less than half a quart though, is that right?
