Okay...newbie with a couple questions

right now I can buy an eclipse RS off a buddy for $500. Has 160k on it. Needs a bumper and hood has a couple dents. I believe its a 96, but ill have to check to be sure.

It also had a timing belt go and I would have to replace the head. Other than that it is in excelent shape and befre the belt went it ran great.

How much are used heads going for now. I would want a complete head in decent shape.
(Assuming only the valves are bad)

I am just trying to decide if this is a project I want or not. I may buy it anyhow, fix it and sell it for some more money. See, I have always wanted an Eclipse, but Ive never been able to afford the 97-99 model year and that is the only one I really like.

So anyhow, I have tuned Neons for a couple years, and am about to buy another one to start one. Just trying to decide what I should do.

Buy it and build it.
Buy it, fix it, and sell it to get money towards a 97-99
Buy it and just resel it right away since it is worth alot mroe than $500
Just pass on it.

-If you're doing the work yourselve, then look for a turbo 1g, you'll have more fun with the end result, auction is a good place to find one for cheap.

I don't think an RS is something you want to have as a project car... especially when you have to rebuild the engine. No matter what it's still going to be an RS. Get a 1G turbo for a few grand, and you'll be much happier.

Save your money and get yourself a 95 GSX/TSI AWD as a project. One in about the same condition as what you are looking at can go for around 1-3.5k depending on what the extent of the damage is.
