I'm back with a couple questions

Hey everyone i've returned to DSM's again.
I sold my 99 RS about a year ago dumbest thing i've ever done really miss that car.
Anyways I have a chance to get a 96 GS with 150K ish miles on it. needs new wheele bearings and the motor burns about 1qt of oil per tank of gas which i'm guessing is rings.
It's an auto tranny.

He wants me to make an offer, what would you guys pay for a car like this? body looks to be in good shape for a 96 midwest car.

Don't you want a turbo 4G63 instead of that green thing in your avatar?

I wouldn't even consider buying a car that has something seriously wrong with it like rings. More trouble than it's worth, and especially not worth a rebuild.

Btw... 1 qt of oil per tank of gas is monstrous loss.

I would like a GST or GSX but in MN those dumb things go for so much.

Also i just got a house so money is tight i was hoping to get my hands on something cheap i could work on over the winter.

Also Watching a 3000GT SL i think it is the mid model but for some reason i like the Eclpise even in non turbo form.

I do miss turbo i just sold my Audi TT Quattro 225 boy i loved that car but too spendy with a house and other things

If money's tight you might wanna stay the hell away from a 4G63. Those things will break you fast. What Id do if I were you is invest in some small little toyota for the daily driver and have the eclipse GSX for a weekend warrior. The 6G72 in the 3000GT is slightly more reliable than the 4G63, but I like the eclipse better. Remember, if you like the eclipse as the daily driver remember that alot is going to break and premium fuel. Sucks bud, but Id say get a 1G weekend warrior.

Thanks for the info and I agree, i was thinking a Eclpise with the 420A engine in it I just want to drive it to work and what not.
I've got a rocket to go fast on.
I have a 03 GMC Z71 thats my main ride thats why i want this thing cheap, as just a weekly go to work ride with maybe some little mods.
I can't sell my truck because of my Dirt Bikes and ATV's
Does the GS have the 4G63 or 420A engine? for some reason i was thinking it's the 420A

You're right. '96 GS is 420A.

I agree with you guys it's all in how you drive them
I've seen 1G 4G63 engines in 92's that have not broke down yet.
It's all in how you treat them.
Going to look at the Eclpise today over lunch hopefully can reach a deal with him.
