boost cleared up bogging problem

my car has been bogging down since I got it, and only boosting to 8 psi. I tried everything to correct it, new spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter, bov, etc. I installed a mbc and turned up the boost and the problem was instantly solved. Why would this occur?

Because you were running pig rich, and upping the boost added more air and allowed the ECU to lean out the air/fuel mixture.

This only works to a point though, and doesn't always give the same results depending on the car's mods and setup. Ideally you need to monitor the actual AF ratio (with a wideband), and have a method for adjusting the mixture to hit a desired target repeatedly.

...or you inadvertently fixed a minor boost leak or electrical glitch while you were installing it.

Yeah... I should have added that it is usually a bandaid fix for some other problem... my money is on covering up a boost leak.
