Really quick. Wiped out my thrust bearing a month ago, Dropped the crank out of the car, polished the crank all nice, put in new bearings (ACL). Tighten down number1 rod..ok...tighten down number four rod...and the motor locks up. Standard size bearing, As soon as I loosen the rod, it frees up. Any ideas?

Look on the back of the bearings, it will tell you the size.
Are you sure you're not tightening the rod too much? What kind of torque bar are you using? If it's a click-type, they are known to fail/give in-accurate results if the torque bar is not stored properly (don't ever keep a click style bar on a torque setting while storing it). There was a test done a while back I remember reading about that these style torque bars can be up to ~20 or so ft lbs off if not stored properly.
Like already mentioned, get some plastigauge and check the clearances if the bearings are the "correct" size.
Did you look at the bearings carefully before putting them in? Maybe they were Monday bearings and possibly have a flaw (my buddy got a new set of mains once and the thrust bearing was not acceptable).

Thanks for the feedback guys. To answer some of the questions. It's my Snap-on torque wrench, That I store turned down. I had my Snap-on dealer calibrate it a couple months ago. The bearings are standard size ACL. The crank wasn't cut or anything, just polished. It's a nice day here in NYC, So I'm going to hunker down and get it straight. Thanks again guys!!
