Ok so here it is... This is my 3rd dsm but my first 2nd gen. I had been looking for another one as i severly missed my 92 gsx i recently sold. I came across this car and gave the guy a call. Ill give you a run down of what all the car came with (wow) but long story short... all it was missing was a turbo and exhaust manifold.

I picked the car up for 1500 bux so this was the PERFECT foundation for a budget build--which led me to my goal: 10 seconds for $3000 or less.

This car has 117k original miles and has a COMPLETELY rebuilt longblock using all forged parts. Here is the rundown of what it came with--keep in mind this stuff is all brand new or rebuilt 0 miles:

Engine/trans hardware:
-Virgin 6 bolt block
-balance shafts eliminated
-CP forged pistons
-Eagle rods
-2G head with BC 280 cams, stainless valves, and mild port
-Fidanza cam gears
-sheet metal intake manifold
-GM 75mm throttle body
-Chromoly lightened flywheel but im not sure which brand
-ACT 2900 clutch
-Fresh rebuilt fwd trans with brand new installed KAAZ lsd.
-Large bar and plate front mount of unknown brand.

Engine management:
-SDS EM-4F with 3 bar MAP sensor

Fuel:
-RC 1200s
-Mallory AFPR
-single rewired Wally 255

Thats the gist of it all. It also has a set of brand new Hoosier slicks that sat so long they have dry rotting on the outer edges... shame. The stickers are still on them.

It had all aluminum intercooler piping and an Ebay BOV that i didnt like so im ditching all of it. Ill fab my own stainless steel IC piping and use an HKS BOV that i had sitting new in a box from about 10 years ago.

I also picked up a Holset wh1c from a 95 dodge with 75k miles. The turbo looked EXCELLENT and i picked it up for $225. I had a DNP T3 header from my past DSM days laying around in the garage so itll get used once again. I plan on running the stock 12cm twin scroll housing.

Here is my currect tab:
Car --1500
turbo-- 225
assortment of pipes/bends from summit for exhaust and IC pipes--300
HKS bov--was in my dsm inventory
DNP manifold-- was in my inventory
oil inlet fitting for holset from summit--12

Current total = $2037. Still need to buy a wastegate (225) and probably new slicks (400) which will put me at a $2692 grand total for now. It'll be close!!

good luck

trying to go fast FWD sucks a big one :/ i gave up and started an awd swap :D

Ya... ive been down both paths and each has their shitty part.... My 92 gsx went deep 11s and made around 450 whp... even at that relatively low power level it ate the trans about 5 times.... never blew a tcase but ate the trans like fat chick watching LMN on Friday night. It ate 3rd gear... 4th gear, countless center diffs, 2 broken shift forks.... It got to the point where i could have the trans out in about 35 minutes by myself.... ridiculous.

My first DSM was a 90 fwd. This was in 1996 and I didnt know much about these cars ... or going fast for that matter... at all. I got frustrated with one tire fire so a few years later after the 90 gst unfortunately got stollen, i bought the 92 gsx.

Anyway... by now ive learned quite a bit and people like Richard33 have me pumped up about this build. He went 10.8x in a 95 gst with a hx35 (sound familiar? LOL) at 133+ mph with no LSD so im pretty confident ill reach my goal.

I too gave up on this battle and went with an awd swap. I have some drive shaft shop stage 5 axles and oversized wheel bearings if you interested to go with your slicks. I got a good deal on them and will have no use for them now. Pm me if your interested and ill cut you a great deal. But best of luck on the fwd quest.

my goal too:) except awd.....and wayyyy different budget :'( good luck with yours!

Ya ive always been a fan of clean but STOCK as far as appearance goes..........

trust me awd has its shltty side too........... At least when stuff breaks FWD its usually cheap and easy (axles).

It'll be a highway monster which is fine by me.........
