Broken fuel feed line

It was a pita to get the fitting off the bottom of the fuel filter. I ended up breaking it off and it's kinked at the end of the broken part. So now how is this fixed? Should I just buy braided feed line all the way back to the pump or just buy some rubber fuel line or w/e it's called and splice the two together?
 
2 ways you can go here..

1- Cheap route, cut the fuel line sand the edges down so they are not sharp and cut your rubber line. Slide a rubber fuel hose over it and tighten at the top and bottom. I have done this a couple times but given that was on older trucks.

2- Safe route, re run the fuel line with a SS kit
