Hey guys,
So my problem is that "sometimes" my brakes squeaks really bad and I noticed that when i pull my ebrake I feel and hear a "clump" noise. Feels like the brake calipers are being pushed to the rotors....After I tug on the ebrake the noise stops. I'm stuck here. Is this a symptom of the brakes needing bleeding? I don' think it's that but I can't see why this would happen all of a sudden like this. Thanks!

Even when the car has disc brakes, there are still shoes underneath of the rotor. These are for the parking/emergency brake. They are opperated by a cable only. If your brakes make noise until the shoes are engaged, then they may be bouncing around underneath the rotor. I would pull it apart and check to make sure that the shoes and hardware are not worn out. Also gives you a chance to knock the rust off of the inside of the rotor and lube everything up.

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty damn sure the 2g nor the 1g has shoes for an e-brake. The e-brake just pulls on the lever which compressed the brake pads onto the rotor.

Now to the op, just pull apart your rear brakes and lube the pads on the caliper side. You may need to replace the little tangs that hold the brake pads in place. What is happening is your pads are loose when you aren't on the brake and the e-brake is loose. as soon as you tighten the e-brake some, the pads become tight and no longer make the noise. It's simple. I've dealt with this and typically what I just told you fixes it.

Just make sure the brake pad grease doesn't go on the friction side.

wrong the 2g 100% has shoes on the inner of the disc hub for its e-brake I know as ive done mine and replaced them from wear!

now to the OP if thats the case you might have a sticky spring that keep it locked into place untill you pull on it when moving, take them off and check all parts and replace any springs or retainers you feel are old and adjust them correctly so it goes back with out sitting to close to the inner of the rear disc hub

After looking closer, I realize now that 1Gs do not use the rear drum parking brakes. 2Gs do use this design. I apologize. I have never torn into the brakes on a my 1G yet.

And now I know. And knowing is half the battle.
