I was wondering what I should check since my Brake light has remained on lately. Sometimes it remains on and other times it stays off. I did notice that one of my brake lights is out. Does this indicator get tripped if there is a bad bulb? The brake fluid is at the full mark.

Also, I have no idea where to even begin with the interior lights but the map lights remain very dim (as if a small amount of current is running through them at all times). I tried unplugging them by disconnecting the plug from the rear view mirror but that just makes the floor lights come on. Where should I look for shorts?

as for your brake light on, check your alternator because mine was on for a little while and replaced the alternator and it went away. if your brake light is out it shouldnt trip that light but you should replace it anyways LOL go to advance auto parts and they can test your alternator for you and then you can go from there.

Just as update to the interior lighting problem. I pulled both door switches and the lights still didn't shut off completely. I ended up just pulling the fuse because I won't be driving the car again until Monday and I don't want to drain the battery with the short + alarm on. Does anyone have any knowledge of what else is in line with these lights?.

Also, thanks for the recommendation John, I'll get the alt checked out soon. I actually replaced it last year so it better not be going out again..

everytime i replaced my alternator the light would still stay on... but i knew it was the alternator though, after replacing the alternator three times in the course of a week trying different alternators, the light finally went off. a lot of people say you should rebuild your alternator because thats the best way to go but its all of the matter of finding a good alternator that works that wont trip the motha' f***kin brake light.

Nope, alternator tested good but the ebrake light went away after I pulled the ebrake and released it multiple times.. Perhaps a sticking switch?

Anyway, I am much more concerned about my interior lights staying on. As I mentioned, I removed both door switches and opened and closed the hatch multiple times in hopes of getting the lights to turn completely off. I had no luck.. The only thing I have been able to do is remove the interior fuse which also kills my radio.. Which sucks.. If anyone has any knowledge as to what else may be in line with the interior lights, I would appreciate some information.. I searched other threads with similar problems and everyone keeps saying door switches but I checked both so those are ruled out.

Also.. the lights go dim as if there is just a small amount of current running through them.. this happens after they start to dim away..

One thread mentioned that a dimmer relay could be sticking and causing my problem.. does anyone know where this thing is located so I can check it?
