UDPATE:The culprit is the intake gasket. replace it and idles perfectly. Still got to find the small evap leak though.
Hi all, Need help!
1997 eclipse GS 420A auto trans. My car is idling at really high rpm. Used to be 2500rpm, after I changed IAC and cleaned throttle body, it is now at 2800rpm. It seems to wanna die if idling under that. Engine was rebuilt half a year ago and the only CEL code now is for small EVAP leak.

changed spark plugs but it seems to be misfiring now...LOL...My first time try to do maintenance myself. It is properly gapped at 0.050.

when I cruising to a stop and put into neutral. The rpm goes crazy from 1000 to 3100rpm back and forth until I stop.

Any insights help!

Thanks a lot.
Here is a clip after I changed the IAC.[ame=http://youtu.be/HUL2kcBgvFU]97 eclipse 420A high idle - YouTube[/ame]

bump. I tried to spray the vacuum line and it seems no much difference in idle. It is now getting into 3100rpm zone. Please help!

It sounds like an vacuum leak somewhere. Vacuum leaks can come from the intake gaskets, thottle body gasket, and the lines. Would double check all of them and dont forget to check the lines running down to the evap cannister and down to the EGR solenoid
After all that double check the wiring to the various sensors and making sure they are all in good condition.

Also have your check your TPS for the proper specs also.

I checked throttle body gasket and EGR lines. TPS is within spec. probably be the Intake gaskets, Will check it this weekend. Do I need to remove the fuel rail to take off the gaskets?
