I've replaced everything new, rear calipers, both cables, pads and rotors. Ebrake cable in cabin is fully adjusted and can't adjust any further and my ebrake still will not hold. The ebrake lever on one side isn't returning so they warrantied it and I got the caliper today. It's NOT installed yet. When I move the lever by hand, the piston only move about 1mm. I understand how the lever works inside the caliper. The pin between the lever and the adjuster seems to about an inch. Shouldn't that make the piston extend about the length of that pin?

Thanks

On disk brakes, the pad sits right on the caliper (very close). There are no return springs like in a drum setup, so the pad is VERY close all of the time, that is why the brakes are usually right there ready to be used, no PUMPING the brake pedal like old school cars (I have one).
I don't think the lever could move the pads a inch so the 1mm may be all it moves. It has to move enough to contact the pads to the rotor but not much more. I may be wrong, I haven't had my rears apart, just replaced pads and put it back together. Only trying to make sense of what you have and are expecting to see.

It just seems the piston doesn't move much when I pull the lever all the way. And I'm guessing that's why the ebrake isn't holding the car. I'm wondering if it'll be different once it's on the car and bled.

Hoping to get a few more minds melding on this........

Thanks, Pauley! The cables themselves have adjustments??? I got them from advanced and if I remember correctly, I didn’t see any adjustments. The pads do have the bumps. I just noticed that if the piston is out and I pull the lever, the piston extends and stays there. Mind you it’s still not installed. So I’m really confused now. I am fixated on find out what’s going on. Hopefully I’ll have an answer Tomorrow. I’ve read other posts and it seemed like they couldn’t figure it out. This really shouldn’t be that hard.

Yesssss!!! Two things. The cables were sticking so I removed both sides and lube them heavily. But the most important thing was that the ps piston needed two turns. I honestly don’t understand that part since that’s the adjusters job. Now I can park safely without worrying she rolled down the hill. Thanks for everyone’s input!!
