If I have my BOV set to too low of pressure, could that cause it to open while I am in mid boost?
I loosened it up quite a bit when I put on my E316G (upgraded from T25).

The point of the spring in a BOV is to keep the valve closed during vacuum, not while under boost. If it's blowing open under boost then there is a fault in the mechanism itself.

The pressure entering the upper chamber via the signal line from the intake manifold is what holds the valve shut during boost. If it's opening / leaking, it either needs replaced or the diaphragm needs serviced. It's basically designed as the polar opposite of how a wastegate works where the gate opens when peak boost is achieved and the BOV should only open under vacuum when no boost is being generated.
