leaky BOV causing higher boost?

Just a shot in the dark before i tighten down my type s tomorrow..

I started loosening my type S to get the "whistle" noise and get rid of compressor surge today, but I also notice that I dont hold 19 psi anymore.. 2nd gear it shot to 24 psi and 3rd it got to 22 psi...

the way I see it is that the leaky BOV is causing more boost because the engine has to work harder to achieve the same pressure to open up the wastegate..

opinions? theories?

Apparently you have never had a boost leak. If boost is leaking out your BOV, yes the turbo will have to work harder to make the same PSI. However, just because the BOV is leaking, there is no way for the actual pressure in your intake system to increase.

I do know what a boost leak is.. thanks; i'm sure you meant that to come out in a different tone.

anwyay, the bov WAS too loose and when i tightened it down she holds 20 psi fine. oh well, another thing i'll never be able to explain
