Leaky BOV

Hey guys. I just got a sequential type BOV installed, and the damn thing is leaking air constantly while under vacuum, and then leaks at like 12psi. The shop that I bought it from is swearing up and down that a BOV is supposed to leak until you hit boost, and then the reason that itis leaking at 12psi is that my vacuum source for the BOV (under pressure at boost) is not strong enough. Is there any truth to this?

Well, most bov's leak under vacuum so that is normal. If it starts leaking at 12psi, it needs to be adjusted. Is it a real hks or a knock off? Does it have an adjustment or do you need to by a different spring for it? And last thing, recirculate it if you dont have a maft. I am assuming you dont and the only reason you noticed it was leaking under vac is because your idle sux. If you did it right, more than likely, you would have no problems.

I know most of them leak a little, but this is letting out a fair ammount of air. It is an HKS knockoff. My stock BOV bit the dust and I am to poor right now to get the real deal (student). It has an ajustment screw, but it hasn't seemed to make much of a difference. I have no MAFT, and I noticed the leak because my car has been running like crap since I got it installed. I hope it is responsible because I am getting O2 readings that have not dropped past full rich and I am getting timing advance of 40+.
