Hey i have a bov and was told by a friend i may want to adjust it a little more? i mean i can pop it open at like 1.5k-2k rpms... I have a pic of it in my pictures, im not sure if theres a way to adjust it or not? I know all bov's are different so hopefully you guys can see the pic of mine maybe you'll have an idea how to help, thanks.

Your BOV is vented...Ohh you mean recuirculated..Ya, but IDK where to get the peice that connects it to the intake pipe..

There was already 6 washers in there, damm..That must be the Sh**iest bov ever, to have 6 washers in there ans still pop open at low boost..

If i look into the horn with the valve being pushed open by my finger, how open should the valve be? I took out all the shims and pushed it open and the valve right in the middle of the horn.

I know under hard throttle I can smell fumes when the bov should be signaled.

With this type of bov, the sound is very loud...Also it doesn't need to open all the way..It only needs to open enough for the excess air to escape...It's under pressure so it only needs a small amount of room to escape..

If it does pop at lower boost you will thear the sound when you dont want to, on the throttle..

What sound are you hearing...Whaaa Pshhhh? That's the sound it should make when shifting..That's normal....

Now I'm kind of confused as to what the problem actually is.. You may just be hearing the sound, and your not used to it, so you think somethings wrong..

yeah when i let off the gas, it doesnt open when its not supposed to, but 6 shims....that seems a little much, plus i have all the shims out now to see how hard it is to pop open and its pretty stiff, I don't see air popping it too much, the previous owner was a complete idiot also, he probably had some dumb friend put more in to hold it. but with the 6 shims it doesn't open much.

At first I thought the issue was that it was letting too much air out before it activates, now I'm concerned that it doesn't open as much as it needs to when it activates, the sound im hearing is more like a hissing before it pops open when i shift kind of like ssssss PSH. I don't really hear the turbo itself spooling which is kind of disappointing, probably ### the bov hissing is pretty loud.

Sell that crap and get a 1g bov please. Enough with the nonsense. Those bov's have been downed by plenty of DSMers. Time is money & you sir are wasting time. Especially if you do not know what to look/hear for. Make a video or just get a 1g bov for like $30 shipped. Go mow grass or pick oranges or help an old lady with her bags. Plenty of money to be taken in Florida.

That hissing sound is the turbo spooling..I'm guessing your on a stock turbo...Idk how well you can hear those little t25 turbo's spool.. But it should gradually get louder(the hissing)..Then whaaa pshhhhh when you let off gas...

I hope that helps make things a little easier to understand..

Also, the 6 washers might be alittle excessive, causing the valve(solonoid) to not fully open when vacume is introduced back into the system,(Whaa Pssshhh)...

Apparently you haven't spent a while in Florida, all the illegals have all those jobs and we got hit the hardest in the recession.

Yeah its just a t25, my first turbo'd car but I'm judging sound based on other cars i hear like my old friends stock turbo'd gti etc...

All I'm asking now is just how much is the valve supposed to open? that's the only thing i need answered and I can go from there on my own, if any of you guys know that?

Ok well your buddy's GTI spools way sooner than you do..And yes you can hear the turbo spool pulling out of the driveway almost idling...I have a buddy with one too, and I about freaked when we went to get beer and I could hear nothing but the turbo spool..LOL..

The valve should open as far as you want it to...Like I said it only needs a small amount of play to release the boost pressure..But, not shimming it at all might cause it too open alot sooner than expected..

I think your freaking over nothing Nick..Calm down..

I'm calm LOL. Just trying not to confuse anyone...ok it IS a pos bov. I put the 6 shims back in PLUS 2 quarters and it will open about a half an inch STILL LOL, so when I get some money I am going to buy a REAL recirc bov.

BTW my car starts spooling at 1.5k if i punch it LOL.

Right!!!Good work man:thumb:

Getting a 1g is probly the cheapest route..The bov's are like we said 30$. I'm not sure if you 2g guys use that squiggle tube when using a 1g bov...But then again I'm sure you need the tube too, with the flange...Wait you might just be able to get the flang and have it welded to the pipe you have:hmm:

2g guys...Anyone just got the flange for the 1g bov?Or did you people get the Ic pipe too? Those without hardpipes please..
