bought this basic turbo kit - i need an intercooler + a bov now which 1 do I get?

I bought this turbo kit off ebay from godspeed. Now I know it isn't the best or whatever but it was an good deal to me and I know I'll probably have to switch out some parts.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

it comes with everything he says besides intercooler, it's piping and a BOV.. I was wondering what parts (brands really) would you all recommend for these..

this comes with the following items

- 95-99 eclipse 420a t3 cast turbo manifold ( will fit talon 420a)

-T3 turbo charger .48 AR

-Godspeed 38mm waste gate (set at 7psi)

-Oil line kit , oil feed , oil return (with all fittings )

-down pipe flange ( for customer to custom make the turbo

-this is a basic set up, this set up require an intercooler , and intercooler pipe and blow off valve to make it complete

I'm new to turbos and I don't plan on running a lot of boost yet. I want to get a feel for it though and also I want a quality intercooler & BOV (one that makes that cool noise right)

What do you mean? There's many people here running ebay intercoolers & turbos fine. Not 35 PSI maybe but still it works.

Not just a FMIC and BOV.

You need a FMIC piping, downpipe, dump tube, injectors, tuning soft, turbo to manifold gaskets, manifold to cylinder head gaskets, I dont see an oil return fitting so probably that also. This basic kit is just that BASIC hardly anything comes with it.

Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick 2. U chose just cheap... not saying it wont work, b.c it will.. ull ###### see 190ish hp. But the real question is how long will it last. And 14bthe is a baby. Get a 16ggood at least. I didnt look at the kit, but im wondering what it has for fuel and engine managemant? Those are also parts of the puzzle.. im not a big fan of :" boost for under 1k" b.c thats just perpetuating crappy builds and the sterotype that 420ato is a shit platform and broken all the time.. Op if your going to build, and on a budget, do some searching and hunting for used good parts on these forums.. not ebay. Gl!

Props on having a 4g64 avenger

I think a 14b will be enough to blow up his engine.


To the OP- I wouldn't use that kit. You make your own kit with quality parts for that price.

Yea.. im 2.4 swapped not 4g. Gl with that. a fab and wiring nightmare when u can just get a gst/x. But to each thier own. Im running full standalone on my 2.4 swap nd thatwas a headache enuf . However i dont think any of those swapped avengers have A: lasred long B : put down serious numbers. Owners just lost interest it seems.

As mentioned, I'm sure this isn't the wholy grail of turbo kits. There may be some parts I switch out right away and some I keep, but for me this is a learning experience and I appreciate all the positive posts. Lets keep it on topic please guys.

You need to read and absorb until your eyes bleed. Building a turbo kit for the 420a is not the easiest thing in the world. And as others have said, that ebay kit is junk. You'd be better off reading, learning, and making a list of what you need and start buying it a piece at a time.

I bought a godspeed turbo kit over 2 years ago.I had to port and polish the turbo(both sides)also the exaust manifold.I also had to grind out the bolt holes in the exaust man.they wer off center.the wastegate was worthless from the start,I ended up buying a tial 38mm.But im still running the same turbo and IC at 8psi boosting daily for 2 years now.I would advise braking the turbo in properly.I bought the kit just to get started.I was gonna upgrade to a better turbo once I got every thing working the right way,but the turbo is still working fine(very slight shaft play).It has no more shaft play then my new turbo sittin on the shelf.Ebay turbos are hit or miss,so just try it but break it in first.Take your time and make sure everything fits right.You might get lucky!

also,DO NOT hook up the oil feed line to the turbo without a oil restrictor fitting.Thats one of the main reasons why everybody blows these turbos!

The intercooler is prob the one thing you can get off of ebay. There isnt much of science when it comes to piping. Now for the BOV you could just go with the 1g.

The 14b will not work on your manifold you are getting a t3 mani, the 14b is flanged for mitsu flange

Also don't know you realize but you have to build your own downpipe with that kit.

Everything listed in that kit i picked up for less than 200 dollars. I built a turbo kit complete with safc and injectors for 1200. If you want to send shrapnel through your engine then by all means go for it.

the restrictor fitting I use is a #40-888-1 OBX T3 T4-4AN restricter oil inlet fitting,you have to be real carefull tightening these fittings,they break real easy!

CHINA does with poor tolerance standards, and thats a fact. ## right any good name could have a bad item, but all were saying is chances are way higher buys an ebay turbo/knock off. Maybe you should google the products they recommend, or use the search function on this website. When someone gives me a brand or product name I'm immediatly searching for any and all info on it.

Misimoto, and a greddy type s if you can find one. Size of the intercooler depends on your psi, turbo and supporting mods. Again search, compare, draw a conclusion then ask a buddy.
