Hey. I have a pretty much all stock 98 gsx. Has a 2100 act clutch and fidanza lightweight flywheel. i just realize a problem today while i was stepping on the gas. it seems like it wont hold boost in first and second gear. When i hit around 5000 or 6000rpm, the car jerks and the stock boost gauge wont boost all the way up but goes up and down around the 3/4 line. Could it be my blowoff valve? It is stock bov btw. This just happened today.

Do a boost leak test if you haven't already yet. Get an aftermarket boost gauge as the stock gauge isn't good for anything other than saying that you have some sort of positive pressure or airflow. What boost pressure are you running and the stock blow off valve leaks so that can be part of your problem as well.

Nevermind, I'm assuming you don't have a MBC since you are on the stock gauge.

Hes Right! Def do a boost leak test, make sure you check all your vacum lines, i had the same prob and it was just a small leak... If all that fails maybe try looking at your Intake manifold, u may have a bad gasket. Im not sure i dont know ### the car is actually doing..... hope all works out!

I have had same problem before. I bought my car with an ebay turbo that was boosting fine for a while. Then i noticed under small load like 1st i wouldnt get any boost. but under harder and longer loads i would get a small amound of boost. swapped to a gt30 and i boost under low loads.

Sounds like you have a blown turbo with possible compressor surge. Also could be the wastegate.

I swapped to a gt30

That big of a tubo WITHOUT fuel and tuning, you are going to damage something. You would be better off with a 14b or 16g at 14psi than the GT30 at whatever psi you are at now. Follow the upgrade path and have supporting mods before turbo upgrades.

Haha, and what makes you think you know my set up? :nono:

Because I'm going by what is in your PROFILE which is supposd to be accurate so these issuse don't happen.

What im sure your mistaking me by the person who posted this thread. i got no problems. well besides the huge turbo lag. i get quick boost, but takes a while to get up there. since you said somthing i think i will go with a small 16g. ;)

Thanks guys. I found out the problem. My TPS was loose. I lost the clip for it when i took it apart so now it comes lose sometime. I thought it was that at first but wasn't sure since I had a CEL for it. Anyways, thanks. You guys have any suggestion for boost gauge? What brand is reliable and is not too expensive. =] THanks

No, I was looking at your profile and you don't have fuel mods besides your 255pump and there is not tuning info, so I was correct in my statement. Update your profile fully please.

So you had a CEL the whole time and didn't mention it? Well gald you found out the problem. Did you perform a boost leak test as well though?

No not yet. I will try to do it today. Sorry about not mentioning the CEL. I totally forgot about it. Thanks for the help guys!!

Autometer is good quality for sure, you can also go with Defi, Glow Shift, VDO, Sunpro, etc. Cant really go wrong with a pressure gauge.

...its narrow band boost gauge...

Please explain this one to me as I am at a loss for words here. Didn't know there were narrow or wide band boost gaugest.

Well i havent had a problem with my gt30 yet.i mean im not hitting any fuel cut and my air/fuel is staying in the range. i guess the only problem is, i tend to stick to the seat when i accelerate and the steering wheel will gets stiffer when it pulls. Im not sure if i really want to change that :D
