boost problem

my friend has a 97 gst spyder auto it runs fine until 2500 rpms then stock turbo spools then it spools real loud an fast but the car doesnt go anywere i put another stock turbo and actuator and its still doing it because i thought the wastegate or actuator but that was not the case any ideas

Have you checked for boost leaks?

Auto or manual because it kinda sounds like a slipping clutch however the sound is odd. Already mentioned, do a boost leak test when ever you question performance from the turbo.

its auto no leaks vacuum or boost he was stuck in traffic for an hour got mad gunned down the shoulder to his exit thats when everything went crazy car was strong until then

Are you 100% positive there are no leaks? What psi did you test to and what pressure?

The worse case it my have jumped time by just a tooth or two. Is it hard to start on a cold start?

it starts fine idles fine i can throttle it in park well over 5000 good spool good blow of once in drive at wot 2500 rpms it sounds like the boost goes wide open but there is no acceleration

Kinda sounds like it could be a major boost leak "popped" or developed when he took off to the exit. Every member on here will be told to do a boost leak test but you really do have to do one. A boost leak can develop almost any time and make a lot of performance issues , especially ones that are only while driving and under boost.

^^^^^What he said............anytime you hear it but cant feel it she a leakin' and I can bet you a paycheck that if he drove like a jack-ass then the problem surfaced after running down a shoulder then more than likely your lower intercooler hose is either punctured or it slipped off the intercooler.....

if there are no Boost leaks, I'd probably start to look at your auto tranny... any time the motor spins up really fast and you go nowhere in gear... it could be the transmission itself, it would make logical sense that the extra torque under boost is causing some slippage

thanks guys for all your help and advice problem fixed plastic piece behind filter and inlet pipe of the upper section before the bov had a small crack had it replaced car runs fine again for now thanks again

The probelem was fixed 15 minutes before you posted..Next time actually read the thread please..
