Ok so my 91 eclipse gst is bone stock, i have read around and found out some information but not enough to satisfiy me. I want to get a BOV thats vented to the atmosphere, i want people to think i am more than stock LOL, is this possable without hurting performance to bad or drivablity, and if so what BOV would be the best choice for this?
Thanks, Dustin

the stock 1g bov is a very good part. venting to atmosphere will hurt your performance without a way to tune for it. I would suggest a maft with gm maf or dsm link v3lite or regular v3.

wanting to sound fast is like finding a smoking hot girlfriend and finding out she is really a man. Looks good till it comes time to perform and then the truth comes out.

That first post pretty much said everything that needs to be said.

Lol, thanks. Any how.... Lol.. I know but no one said I have to get up next to a blown mustang and rev next to him I just want to be able to get up next to a Honda and make him piss his pants. Lol how much louder would changing the intake to a hard pipe?

Judging from your posts, not loud enough for you.

Pulling up next to a Honda and revving is childish. Instead, why don't you pull up next to a Honda, nod politely to the fellow car enthusiast, and drive away w/o acting like a fool.

That car in your avatar is beautiful. Keep any racing at the track where there are no trees or traffic light poles for you to wrap it around.

:ohdamn: You're driving a DSM. You already did.

To answer your question, not alot louder but you'll notice it.

I used to have an ebay fake greddy type s bov on my car. Now I have a type s. The fake one was louder then the real deal and i had it recirculated. It wouldnt hold much more then stock boost but it might be what your looking for.

my gsx is bone stock...i have a 1G BOV And it is recirculated, every time i rev my car enough to let Hondas, mustangs, etc hear it ..they just back off...

I never had pulled next to some one and rev it..others hear my BOV when my car is running That's good enough for the ricers to stop bothering me with their fart can exhaust.

Lol, thanks guys except for the guy who said I'm foolish, you can't tell me you own a DSM and never pulled up next to someone and rev. That's an insult to DSM's in my book. Lol but thanks guys for the help. I looked at the greddy recercilated BOV would that be a pretty much swap out of the 1g BOV?

Ha ha I dont think we should go around calling people foolish, hes got that newcaritis. You know, when ya got a new toy and you just want to do something with it.
I say good luck man

If youre serious about the car, start thinking what your plans are for the car. Drag strips, auto cross, rally, DD, etc.

Honestly I hear the 1g BOV are actually pretty decent, alot of cars actually upgrade to ours, like some subis. YOu could mod out the existing BOV. But I think youre honestly better off spending your time , money , and effort on another area of the car.
Honestly exhaust is the way to go, you'll be glad you did.
Especially if you have the kahoonas(completely mutilated that word) to run without a Cat.

You could use a SSQV. They are loud even when recirculated. Along with that a SSQV is a great bov, not exactly my favorite but good bov none the less

No, actually I haven't pulled up to anyone and revved the engine like a fool. I do all my racing in the dirt at a rallyX track.
And, "an insult to DSMs in your book"? Let me borrow your book; I'll edit it for you. Sounds like it has a lot of errors.

Anyway, here is a write up on the Greddy BOV Installing a Greddy Type S BOV in a DSM Eclipse/Talon/Laser

GL with the install.

Ive had 2 dsm's and a 350z --all 3 modded-- and never rev'd at anyone who wasnt my friend and was playing with them.. After almost crashing my dsm the 1st day I had it back in '05 when I was still young and immature, I learned the road isnt a safe place to play.

on another note, my 1st dsm had everything stock at one point except an injen intake-- and it made the stock 2g bov NOTICEABLY loud... so intake it is!

Save your money and keep the 1g stock BOV. There is no going going with an aftermarket one. Honestly the 1g IMO is superior to the Greddy BOV.

In order to vent you need to run a GM MAF in blowthrough or run with speed density.

This is not the site to talk about street racing and it's a quick way to get you booted. Weather its said or insinuated (revving at a light). Yes, it's childish and foolish to rev at a light and no, I have not done so.

Start doing research on your vehicle before you break it.

No offense Kreez, but I reread this whole thread twice over and the OP never mentioned anything about any sort of racing. Instead, why don't YOU keep street racing off the threads. All he wants is a louder BOV. Atleast he's asking how instead of ripping off the recirculation tube.

Watch the retaliation posts before the thread gets closed, there is no sense turning a informative thread for a new member into a bunch of childish arguing.

To the OP. It doesn't matter if you've got a POS plastic 2g bov or a damn trumpet on your car, just revving the engine isn't going to build boost so it won't "blow-off" at anyone. The 1g bov is enough to handle your current mods and just follow our sites simple Tech Guide - DSMtuners that suit your plans.

I apreactiate all, but I'm not on this site and apart of this forum to get ridiculed I asked a simple question from the start, I'm new to DSM's, but not to moding cars. Just to moding DSMs. I have no intentions at street racing. I lost a very good buddy when he hit a concrete barrier at 180 in his supra. Track is the only place to race.
Leaving it at that like I said before I just want to be loud I live in OK so emissions are no problem. Every car I have owned I removed the cat, LOL. I just don't have the money for a full turbo back exhaust. So the step down from that is a loud BOV..

I'm sorry @moderators, for causing an uproar. I just wanted some simple advise.

Anything rubber or plastic will muffle sound. If you want to make your current blow off valve louder, a new upper intercooler pipe that puts your blow off valve close to your throttle body will make it louder.

The fact that it is metal will muffle less sound and putting it closer to the throttle body makes a HUGE difference. Putting on a new metal intake makes a difference as well because it can echo with out losing as much sound since its metal...

Don't expect anything too extreme but there is a difference.

There are also a few hard recirculation pipes but good luck finding one that will fit your intake and your new intercooler piping (since they would no longer be stock).

For the future, since it does not seem you are ready. When you get to a point where it needs to be crushed to hold boost that makes a SLIGHT difference in sound, but when you are actually running more boost it will be louder anyway.

I have to be around 10+ PSI before I can even hear mine but at like 15 it's pretty loud.

I will be SO happy the day the last "bone stock car, vented BOV for ricerness" thread is created. This topic has been beaten to the point where a down syndrome patient could literally tell you it's not something you're supposed to do. For now I'll do my civil duty and place it where it belongs....

O.P.- if you want a loud BOV on a stock car, buy a SRT4 Neon or something that does not use a draw-thru MAS system from the factory. Blah, blah, BLAH.
