i was wondering is there a way to make the stock BOV actualy sound like a BOV instead of nothing at all ### help

Yes get a gm maft translator and then vent it to the atmosphere. Plenty of links on this.

Now,
the plastic stock BOV plain out sucks. If you are boosting over 12-13 psi the valve will most certainly leak. With the price of going VPC or MAF-T, you can always just buy an aftermarket UICP and BOV to accomodate your need for the "cool BOV sound, y0". Research the recirculating type BOV like the Greddy Type S, HKS SSQV, RFL type-H, etc. These are make plenty of sound and keep your system recirculated.

DO NOT VENT.

It says in your profile that you have an intake and hks bov. Do you not have this stuff? If not I would buy an intake and an upper intercooler pipe and then you will be able to hear your turbo and BOV ALOT better. If it is still not loud enough buy a after market BOV like the greddy, it is easy to recirculate. If that isn't loud enough hire a gnome with a microphone to ride under the hood and go psssshht every time you change gears. You could always vent to atmosphere, but I do not recommend it. Then only time I have ever vented is when my recirc tube fell off by accident when I hit a pot hole, i had the 1g it sounded good but it ran so pig rich.

All it is, is cutting a restriction out of your system. If you really do have a cold air intake, this won't help. But, a short ram air intake is for an NT based application or for a GM Maft set up (which you don't have from your description).

Really? Mine was slightly louder after this. I don't have a FIPK on though. Would this cause the difference? I would assume that the FIPK or any other cone filter would actually be even louder.

In my experiences, the type of intake pipe and BOV are what determines the sound and loudness of thte actually noise. When I moved from an injen intake to a 3" mild steel intake, the BOV sound nearly cut in half. Not that I care, but it was a difference.

Well you could get a GM MAF for like 40-50$ used, and then take the recirculation hose off. But really there is no reason to vent it, and you will run rich if you vent it and dont get the GM MAF or something similar.

You also forgot to add that with getting the 3" GM MAF, you need the translator to convert the pressure readings. this "Horsepower in a box" translator will cost you in excess of 150 dollars.

Oh yeah, hahaha completely slipped my mind, good catch, now that deserves you some rep points. So yeah bout 200$ or more depending on the way you go, but really venting just to make a pssshhhh sound isnt worth it IMO.

You also now have a tuning device and really need a logger or something simialar to watch whats going on inside your motor. MAFT is not just a simple way to vent if you don't know much about your car or how to tune it.

sure it is, but the topic was to get the cool BOV noise. Which a member suggested to vent via maft. In essence, you could spend all of the money to get a MAFT system, and set everything to 0. This way you don't have any sort of compensation for tuning ability. Considering this, it is now a way to "simply vent your BOV".

Understood, but just how often do you think throwing in a MAFT and leaving all the settings at zero will work fine or is even good for the car. I guess I should say its not the smartest thing to do if you don't know what your doing and probably shouldnt be done if your only doing it for the psshh and don't want to learn more about your car and what the other benefits are.
