ok so i know there is a few of these ones but i thought i could get better information for my exact issue...alright so i have a 1998 eclipse gst and when i accelerate it feels like it is misfiring so i have done a few things like change spark plugs (made sure they were gapped) but didnt have enough cash for the wires...i have changed the fuel filter and looked for boost leaks and none that i could see, also this happened after i sprayed off my car with degreaser then water i heard that could mess up your MAF? please help

We'll need more info than that. Start out with an actual boost leak test, not a visual. It will take about an hour to make a tester if you can't get a local with one, and 10-however long to actually do the test.

he told me to do soapy water on the pipes and find bubbles i havent tried it, it doesnt sound smart i just found the small vacumn line that comes off my bov was ####ed so i replaced that and its still boggin down

You spray soapy water on the pipes/couplers when you do the boost leak test. When you pressurize the pipes the soapy water will bubble where it's leaking.

ok well im new and getting good at this mechanic car thing:) learning new things everyday but alright and when you say spray what do you mean spray?

Take a spray bottle (I use an old windex bottle) fill it part way with soap, dawn dish soap works well and then put water in it. Shake it up to get it all foamy and then spray the soapy water all over any of the intake on the car, intercooler pipes, all the intercooler couplers, the injectors, throttle body etc. Then take your boost leak tester and fill the intake with air from a compressor and watch/listen for bubbles or air escaping. If you see bubbles then air is escaping from that area and you need to find out why and fix it.

so when i am doing this boost leak test does my car have to be turned on and do i fill the intake manifold if so where do i do that?

No the car should be shut off. The boost leak tester takes place of your intake pipe for the test. You clamp the tester to you compressor inlet on the turbo. I built my boost leak tester out of a 2" rubber pipe cap and a valve stem(steel one). once you have the tester clamped on you use a air compressor and fill the system with air. Then spray everything down and watch for bubbles.

Having the same problem and i have been for some time now. I changed out my plugs and wires and fixed my head cover gasket leak and it still bogs down in 3rd and 4th after boost kicks in at full throttle.
I was told i should go one step colder on spark plugs and get some ngk-7's but not sure

ya dude this problem is definantly decreasing the sentimental value of my car to me LOL im sure i will find it i am thinking boost leaks or plugs and wires and get 8mm wires and if thats not it im gonna check my cat and unbolt it and just accelerate like that and hope its not that LOL

You might be knocking in the higher gears since there is more of a load on the engine.

the guy i bought the car from said there was a performance clutch put in and other from that everything in this car is pretty original other than the air filter and my sweet sway bar:)
