Before you start hating on me for this post, I want to say that to each their own, if I happen to like the look of body kits leave me alone :)

I just wanted to ask a simple question, whats a good body kit for a 99 Eclipse GS-T that won't hinder performance much?

What kind of prices am I looking at?

and I plan on lowering the suspension: How much does that usually cost?

I won't comment on the body kit.
Lowering a car all depends. You can get $100 springs and use the factor struts, and it will ride like sh*t and blow out the struts.
Or you can get good quality springs and good quality struts for $500+
Or you can go with coilovers which will run you $750+
And if you can't install these things yourself you will be raped on the install charges.

I don't know anything about body kits. But, Tokico spring/strut sets are under $600 with a lifetime warranty.

if i were you i would put the money omewhere else.. i just read over your other thread about making it quick.. im am just saying this because i too live in the northeast, and the roads up here are far from perfect. when i turned 16 I put a body kit on my little 1.8 eclipse and hated it as soon as i started driving it..

Every time you go somewhere ou almost have to plan your trip so you dont come across certain things..

my advice to you is to get the car running like you want it to with all the "go fast parts" and then once done with that, really think about the whole body kit thing.. they are usually around 500-600 depending on quality(fiberglass)

I say go with the factory body kit, and if your going to lower buy quality springs and struts. Then get an alignment and make your your camber and caster at adjusted right. Or maybe just leave it alone.

It's a project in the making you know -.- My other car is a Dodge Challenger and I just got the GS-T for 5250 and was looking into making it into a sick drag car, but I like rice, I can't help it, not retarted rice, but the aggressive looking body kits with lowered suspensions, I plan on coilovers because this is an investment for the near future and yeah true nov8undr, Northeastern weather/driving conditions make it a bi*** to keep a car looking fresh during the winter.. I was just curious about pricing because I'm new to DSM completly seeing that my very first car was a dodge intrepid, then a challenger and now this GS-T

Thank you all though very much, respect to you all for being adults about it, Most immature fools rant on rice calling it ###-###gish or whatever, I say to each your own because I've seen Riced out Supras/Eclipses that smoke Cobras and other American cars

You may not want to waste the money on body shits and do your maintenance then. You wont have a car good for any kind of racing without doing all of the proper maintenance first and then keep up with the maintenance as long as you have the car.

I think its funny how you did enough research to find out that every body on this site hates body kits, but not enough to find out the simple basics about DSM's, like that the GS-T has a 4G63T and that it is turbocharged.

FLAME!!

well since EVERYONE lately is being a total ass regarding anyone that like a bodykit . I haven't seen a bodykit that " hinders performance " really . They are all pretty much the same just differeny shapes and holes for the most part. If you want a more stock looking but still aftermarket bodykit . Check out the buddyclub2 kit I have a bomex front and if I remember they are invader skirts. I like it but I bought fiberglass. Big mistake and a pain . If you can try to get duraflex everything much easy to deal with and won't chip or break as easy as fiberglass.

Personally, I think that the 2GB Talon kit looks the best on these cars as well would would be saving these parts from the Talon owners looking to ruin the Talons with an Eclipse 2GB conversion.

i too use to want a body kit. then i realzed how fragile they are and then started looking at 2gb front bumpers with a lip and i think they look way more sexy and aggressive. so i vote for keep the 2gb and just buy a front lip. SAVE money and look better.

well if you know any of those 2GB Talon owners who are looking to "ruin" thier 2GB talons by converting them to 2GB Eclipse front ends let me know... i have a 2GB front end that came with one of my Talons that i wouldnt mind changing out for a 2GB talon front end.

This type of thread is probably posted about two times a day. And the answers are always the same. There's a resounding hatred among the DSM community against body kits. I'm not gonna lie either, I haven't seen a body kit yet for these cars that looks good. A 2Ga with a decent front lip is still far better looking than a 2Ga with a body kit. But what do I know.

If you want a body kit front bumper I like the ED DuraFlex B-2 Front Bumper

Your not going to get away with putting a body kit on your car and not get flamed for it by someone or even the majority since this is a performance oriented DSM community. Its your car so make it your own, my car doesn't have one piece of OEM body trim other than the rear bumper and I get both positive and negative opinions about its looks.

Just keep it clean and you'll get my approval.
