Car is a 92 AWD.
I noticed my car getting quite hot last night on the way home. Limped it home and checked everything out. I thought the switch had gone bad but that wasn't the case. Replaced it and then found that the fuse on the + terminal for the rad fan was blown.
Replaced it and it blew again after a drive down the block.
It should be noted that I found the overflow tube wrapped around the fan as I was investigating the issue.
The fan still spins somewhat freely (I'd say about 3/4ths of a full revolution when I spin it by hand). And there are no awkward or unusual noises when I directly power the fan with a 12v power source.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the fan should spin a lot more than 3/4-1 revolution when spun by hand? My thoughts: the tube getting caught caused excessive strain on the fan motor, drawing excess amps blowing the fuse. Now that the fan only spins 3/4ths of a revolution it's drawing excessive amps, blowing the fuse.
RESOLVED: The fan motor was bad. See last post.

A new fan will most likely fix your problem. Good luck.
