My biss will not come out. it screws out so far than stops I tried to use a flat head screwdriver to slide down under the head to pull/pry it up and it didn't work any suggestions?

I'm trying to get it out to put a new o ring on.

i did a search on the forums, and came up with idleing issues, i need to know if ill have to buy an new biss screw or can i make one, i adjusted my idle and when i was driving it must have fell out becasue its not there anymore, i have it ghettoed with a rubber plug and a rubberband right now-30second quick fix

What you need is:
BISS Part#MD614948
#5 o-ring Part#MD608806
Cap Throttle Body Part#MD61415

I believe that they are rather inexpensive.

I really don't know. A little silicone rubber might work just as well. However, if you are going to order the other two parts, you might as well go ahead and order a new rubber cap.

What if you just noticed that you don't have a rubber cap? Should you pull out and not drive the car anymore? Or is it still good to go while you look for a rubber cap?

i hacked my maf and had to screw out the biss screw so the cap no longer fit after that, ive been driving around for 6 mos. with out it, no big deal if its not there i think its more of a dirt thing to keep it out

The BISS cap is there just to cover it up i took mine off because i was running an open blowoff valve and had to keep adjusting my idle it didnt effect anything when i took it off.

The cap is there because they are notorious for falling out. It keeps the screw from backing itself off and disappearing. I would not suggest buying the o-ring at the dealership. They charged me five bucks for it! Just get the screw from the dealership and then go to a parts shop and pick up the closest fitting o-ring.

I never really played around with it....but, there is something wrong with my idle....I'm trying to remove the BISS screw and replace the o-ring....do I have to take off the throttle body to do it? or could I screw it completely off? let me know.............. :dsm:

that's what I'm asking.....take off tb and do it? or unscrew it?
And I was asking if you tried it.

Just unscrew it. TB stays on.

Defiant ROFL

Ive read that some people have sprayed some wd40 type spray on top of BISS and then shalacked it with silicone to replace the cover.

I know that the 1G cars had the cover. However, my present 2G does not have the cover and I have 2 spare 2G throttle bodies and none of them have the cover. Are we sure that the cap was used on the 2G cars?

That's a tip I've posted. If you spritz some WD-40 in on top of the BISS, and get its threads coated lightly with it, you can squeeze in a wad of silicone seal which will hold just fine but still come out easily when you need it to.

As for posting non-informative information, bite me very much. :D

As far as the cap goes. Ive never had one. Ive always stuffed a glob of RTV over it, and smoothed it off with my finger. Oh and for the ones who worry about looks. They now make an Import RTV. (its grey) Only difference, and works like a charm. ;)

Just a little extra info:

Go to the hardware store and ask them for O-rings. It should be a #5 O-ring I believe. It should be around 35 cents or so.

If you want a cap, go to any Auto parts store(autozone, advanced auto, etc) and go to where they sell vacuum caps. There is one that will push in there tight. It goes in just enough but leaves you some to grab if you want it out again. I've had mine in there for at least 2 years. Works great.

I hope this helps

I need some help.
I need to adjust my BISS, so I can set my timing correctly. :(
Except I don't have access to a scantool that has the diagnostic mode for the IAC motor

Is there any other way to ground the right plugs on my 2G without using the scantool like the Vfaq says I have to ?

Any help would be greatly apreciated, I needed to get this tuned today, since I work all the next week and this is my daily

Thanks DSM peeps :thumb:
