Hey guys,
Im probably in the wrong forum but Im sure the admins will move thi
Now......Im pulling the engine and transmission out of my 1997 Spyder with the 4G64 and auto trans. It's getting freshened up and the tranny is slipping a bit in reverse so Im getting that looked at as well.

My question is...........when pulling the engine out, is it easier or better to separate the engine and transmission or should I take it all out as one unit and then pull them apart afterwards?

Thanks in advance folks

Make room for them both to come out at the same time.

It may be considered "easier" to pull them separately, but much more time consuming. I'd rather take less time of harder work than more time of "easy" work.

Pulling them together is much easier IMHO. I just pulled my Spyder 4g63/trans the other day and it's pretty straight forward.
I'm one of the wierd ones who drops the whole assembly out the bottom, vs pulling it out the top.
Drop it into dolly cart, lift the front of the car a bit with the engine hoist/Jack's, and wheel it out.

I thought about the out the bottom option but since I spent the money on an engine hoist/ shop crane......I figured my wife should see me using pretty often. LOL

Oh you still use it to get it out the bottom and back in. I'm sure you could without, but it'd be more work than it's worth.

Either way you pull them, together is the most sensible.
