Best Street Tire

What’s up guys, I just recently upgraded turbos/suspension, I’m in need of tires to compliment this, I’ve read others having success with Nokian snow tires, what are you guys running/recommend for 500whp on the street?

I am beyond pleased with my set of Bridgestone RE-71r's. But those are 200 treadwear so it depends on what kind of driving you intend to do and what tire wear speed you are comfortable with.

Mostly street use, with maybe once a year track use. I was just curious what others were running and having success with, do I appreciate the feedbackTheres just too many dang options on tires , these will be my first purchased set for the car, I’m currently on some ecsta’s which are about shot, in a 225/45/17

Well tire rack let’s you choose a lot of options depending if you have a budget also and some people leave reviews on some race tires which is also very helpful

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are the best. Continental ECS are in the ballpark and more affordable, probably the best bang for your buck. Both have mileage warranties.

Before making your decision you should research Firestone Indy 500's. The reason you're finding snow tires in you search is they have soft compounds designed for more grip in cold weather & perform well as drag tires. Most snow tire wear quickly but I believe @twick69 found a specific brand that he liked. Maybe he'll chime in with the name as I can't remember off the top of my head.

Nokian Hakkapelita RSI , I found that old from 2011 I think? I never would have thought snow tires would work but they sound promising, especially if they worked so well on his set up. But my car isn’t that narley, I just want some traction on the street and the track if possible without having 2 sets of tires. And I won’t be buying for at least a month or so, just looking into options and I appreciate everyone’s input

I have Dunlop direzzas and am happy with them as an overall tire. They don't like the wet, but daily and launching has gone well. Or some nitto 555/555r if it's a summer driver only. Michelins are great too for performance, ride and longevity. Continentals tend to be hard, heavy and rather loud in my experience, but otherwise perform well and have decent life.

Snow tires will grip but you're going to chew them up fast depending on how much you drive, I've burnt a set of studless winter's up in about 4k miles, maybe half of which was driving somewhat agressive. Didn't make sense for the cost of the tires.

Dont know if you can get them but i have used Vredestein sessantas for years on my cars, my skyline had them and the DSM does currently and they are great tires! They got the vorti which is a newer tread and is ment to be a bit better but not tried them yet on these wheels, my bigger wheels i have to use vorti's.

They grip well in dry and amazing in wet, last s good amount of time. I use Vredesteins on my daily aswel but just the sportrac 5. Love the tires and for daily normal use will never go back to anything else for the roads unless its a race tire, which i then use the Torfeo R Pirelli's.

Bingo. I think it was the Vredestein snow tires that @Twick69 had said had good grip without wearing out quickly also, not Nokian.

Here's my history on various sets of tires:

Yokohama Parada Spec-2 (loud, slippery in the rain, but last forever...and look cool)........................All season
Falken Ziex (quiet, nice and sticky, were great in snow and rain...but wore out too fast)...........All season
Toyo Proxies (quiet, nice and sticky, were great in snow and rain, lasted the longest)..............All season
Pirelli Winter 210 (loud as hell, but very sticky on ice and snow, lasted a long time)..................Winter
Dunlop SP 10 (on the loud side, very sticky, but no good in rain).........................................Summer tire
Dunlop SP 9000 (on the loud side, very sticky, but no good in rain)......................................Summer tire
Khumo Ecsta Supra (just hated them) nothing nice to say.

Yes these would be my only set. The car is just a weekend warrior toy, mostly street driven, full weight 90 gsx, just looking for good grip on the street and decent performance at the track

Fair enough, but heavier is heavier, and they're loud as heck in the cars over had them on, including my talon.

Were they the recent build ECS's, or just some other Continental tires? There is a sample size of 1.3 million miles on Tire Rack and the ECS's are rated a 8.5 for tire noise (Michelin PS4's are 8.8). I have ECS's on my ND Miata and I haven't noticed the tire noise even with the top down.

One set of ECS's on my car, one on the parents old 06 outback XT, and a couple other continental versions on other cars on the past. All louder than other tires, save truck tires. Mostly bought the Continentals due to price and longevity. Either way there are better performance tires out there that fit the bill.
