I just got my 91 Talon a few days ago but I cant register yet until it passes emissions... and there is the problem. It has no cat or muffler just a straight pipe. I need help on what I should do, Ive read a lot of the forums and most people say a 3 inch set up is the best. Where could I find one for a good price? and is this the best choice? My talon is all stock and this would be my first major mod but I plan on going big with it in the future. Any help is greatly appreciated it, as this is my first car.

If you have to pass smog then I would get a cat with your new exhaust system..Then swap it out for a test pipe after smog..

Ebay exhaust are just fine..But there are plenty of people running name brand exhaust and love them..The things there is also how fat is your wallet..If it's fat, then a thermal exhaust seems to be in the top 5 of best systems out there..

I dont mind keeping the cat there so I wouldnt really be looking for a test pipe, ive also heard about turbo back systems but I can't find any info on htem or where to get one. I also dont want a super loud one, I prefer the sleeper look.

Thanks a lot man, do you have any preferences on the turbo back systems? if I only have the stock turbo would it fit a 3 inch O2 housing?

I would just take your car to a local muffler shop and have them weld a cat in for you. While you are there you could also have them weld on a magnaflow muffler. That would be your cheapest route.

Preferences are really wallet based..An ebay exhaust could equal the same power as a high dollar one..But the sound is going to be really different..

Check youtube for eclipse exhaust(turbo obviously)..Find the sound you like..Look up how much it will cost and go from there..

Yes like J monet said a local exhaust shop might be the cheapest route with adding a nice muffler like magnaflow..

I was thinking about putting together my own exhaust system just didnt know if it was the best way to go, thanks for the info i think im gonna go with the custom exhaust idea, 3 inch all the way, at least from cat to the back for now.

Print out a picture of of each catback you are considering buying, then tape to a dart board or something. Put on a blindfold and throw a dart at the board. That is "the best catback" then find a cheap highflow cat or test pipe. Win..

This thread is now about the best kind of gummy bear. I say haribo is the best.

:applause: haha thanks man, should i go with 2.5 or 3 inch, would it even make a difference?

Put on a blindfold and throw a dart..ROFL...

I say cheapest is always the best, but I'm also a cheap a**hole..Otherwise considered a normal dsmer..LOL

Depending on how much you are going to mod down the road..If you plan on being stock, just go with the 2.5 inch..If you plan on making bigger power down the road, just get 3 inch and call it a day..

3 inch pipe is 3 inch pipe.... whether you buy it from buscher or ebay its just pipe.. if it helps you sleep at night them spend 4 times as much LOL.. if you go 3 inch all the way back without porting your turbo and boost controller etc.. you could get boost creep. but i have Ebay O2 housing w. wastegate dump tube, Ebay 3inch Downpipe (Stainless) , and the rest is all ebay and i dont run a muffler just a 3 inch tip and i love it (my turbo is my muffler LOL) its stainless its cheap and its pipe what more can u ask for.

Can i avoid boost crrep if i stay with the stock downpipe? i was thinking of going 3 inches from the cat back and leaving the downpipe alone.
